Well u guys both know how I love the 911 and Skyline GT-R. And The odd thing is Lexus reason for the GS, well the GS will never be as sporty as any true sports car.

BUT, AWD cars are not the way to go for the pure, sports experience. Thus, Porsche makes its hardcore 911, GT2 and GT3 RWD only. And the Carerra GT is RWD. And looking at Audi, yeah its AWD but the RS-4 is the FIRST AUdi to actually be RWD biased.

Says tons

The 911 has AWD to make it more driveable and well, it sells tons better. Hell you can get tiptronic, an AUTO 911 Turbo, possibly the easist, fastest supercar to drive.

OF course, you can make AWD cars sports cars. But from a PURIST standpoint, it has to be RWD.

Just ask Ferrari

Not so fast Kemo Sabe. GT2, GT3 and Carrera GT are certainly hard core and they're RWD because they're really track cars expected to be driven by hard core skilled drivers who don't want the WEIGHT penalty of AWD.

The base 911 isn't as fast as those other vehicles and as you know it can be bought with or without AWD. AWD again adds weight and cost, something which 911 owners may want to add. But the 911 Carrera 4S is certainly a potent sports car! The base 911 doesn't have AWD probably to keep the price down not because it won't benefit from it.

The 911 Turbo only comes with AWD probably because the torque of that car is so fierce that the AWD makes it usable by mere mortal drivers and the weight penalty is basically irrelevant.

Again I think 'PURISTS' don't want AWD because of the weight penalty and in some cases they feel the RWD is something they're more comfortable controlling in corners, so in that sense, ok, you win.
