Default Will Toyota or Nissan ever make a full-size van for the US?

With Nissan and Toyota fully committed to the full-size truck game, the only significant segment that they've left untouched is the fullsize van segment (i.e. Econoline and Express).

Do you guys think that they'll ever enter this segment? (I'm not holding my breath for Honda, they won't even commit to V8 or RWD sedans.)

I think the Titan and the new Tundra platforms can serve as the basis.

Pimped out conversion vans with big fat chromes....

I dont think they will enter the full size van market, theres just too little profit in it. I never even see Toyota/Nissan trucks used as commercial vehicles, most of them are privately owned. They are too expensive for commercial use, and 95% of full size vans are commerical.

if u r talking like mini vans, i will pick the toyota alpard anytime anyday, http://www.toyota.com.hk/showroom/alphard/index.html if they have them in the states, and like SUV , i think the 4 runner is doing pretty good.

as for nissan, the elgrand is up in my list, but same thing, if they have it on the state, http://www.nissan.com.hk/eng/model_main.php?id=11

Yeah, the Alphard is SO PIMP. Oh well, I'll just have to pretend when I'm behind the wheel of my Previa.

Me? It was a 2005 Toyota Alphard with the Lexus ES300 3.0L 1mz-fe engine and adaptive headlight leveling system and full DVD theatre sound system. I have yet to break 1000km on that van....

Check out the footrests for the 2nd row passengers, and the courtesy pillar lights.

Yeah those are some pretty pimp vans. Very luxurious. But they look kinda small compared to the Econoline and Astros. Nice none the less.

I always wondered if Toyota would build a Econoline like van for the US, but now I personally dont see the need for it. Most of those vans are used for companies(parts trucks, catering, police use, turned into mini school buses etc). If Toyota entered that market here in the US, I would like them to focus only on Conversion vans, but even that market is falling. I barely see Conversion vans anymore. They were hot back in the day. Either do that, or dont do it at all. Thats the way I feel.

I
The Astro, and the sister GMC Safari, ( now, after 20 years, finally out of production ) are rear-drive mid-sized vans, not full-size....but, like the Ford Econoline are truck-based with a ladder frame.

What you are probably referring to is the Chevrolet Express full-size van. (or its twin the GMC Savannah ).
