I'm would suggest the CLS as well. It's really a gorgeous vehicle.

But it's a reliability gamble, being MB, so, given that it would be your only ride, you better choose something that'll get you where you're going.

Ok, as mentioned, it wasn't on the list, but for $65K I'd go with the 550 - at least that's what I did!

PS - it won't have all the features of the M45 but it drives incredible and you will have zero out of pocket expenses (except for gas and tires) for the first 4 years or 50K whichever comes first!

PPS - While the E55 will lay waste to most cars out there, you have to wonder how many times you will be tempted to show the guy next to you what you have and I tell you, racing on the streets these days is just plain dangerous.

I would definitely go with a BMW 550i plus M aero package.

not to sound too arrogant, i had the same dillema too...

but it all boils down between 3 factors.... comfort, performance and resale value.

performance wise, the MBZ E55 tops.

resale value goes to the BMW 5 series

but last thursday, I bought a '06 Lexus GS because of its comfort and it has more features that BMW and MBZ combine.

but i guess it still depends on the buyer's tastes and needs. who needs a fast car when the law only requires you to drive for a certain speed limit. or why be concern with the resale value of the car when in the first place you can affort to buy a $65k car.

I agree with everything except for the GS having more features.
