Porsche Cayenne Facelift - computer enhanced

Porsche’s first off road model Cayenne has been on the market since winter 2002 and is now about to undergo a first major restyling, scheduled for release in 2007. In addition, a Hybrid version is said to be in the pipeline, developed in co-operation with VW and Audi. This one, however, for launch earliest in 2008.

Prototypes of the facelifted Cayenne have been photographed meanwhile during road testing in various places of the world in cold and hot weather as well as in the vicinity of Porsche’s home base Weißach.

These photos are showing for the first time the complete new front end with new headlights reminiscent of Porsche’s 911 (996) model. The new front skirt has different air intakes and spotlights in the corner of the air intakes.

At the rear end the car will get also bigger taillights, a new spoiler and a new bumper. The 4.5 litre V8 engine in the flagship Turbo model is said to remain unchanged, however, the 3.2 litre V6 will get upgraded with the new narrow-angle 280hp 3.6L Passat VR6.

The photos are showing a front-side view on which the front end tape has been stripped off by computer. One shot of the dashboard. Two shots of the new rear end with some tape for disguise.

I like the menacing front grile, Porsche will continue to have a hit on their hands. Ask Land Rover. The upcoming Q7 looks very promising also.

New Cayenne adds a roof spoiler
Our spies caught the sporty off-roader being put through its paces in Germany with a minimal disguise. And while changes to the metalwork have been kept to a minimum, buyers will still get distinctive styling when the big off-roader goes on sale.

The most signifcant alterations are to the nose, where new headlights and a more aggressive front bumper, com*plete with wide-set foglamps, appear.

Another less obvious change with the nose is the increased overhang ahead of the front wheels, giving greater protection to pedestrians in the event of an accident.

Meanwhile, at the back, there's a fresh bumper, the lights are resculpted to give a sharper look, and a neat roof spoiler also makes an appearance.

Improved interior trim and subtle tweaks to the suspension to boost handling are also expec*ted. The high-performance SUV is set to hit showrooms later this year.

I still don't like it, but hey, whatever it takes for them to stay independent right.

The Cayenne still looks like a pregnant seal to me. At least with the Cayenne, if you'e a guy you can drive this SUV and not look like a complete douche. Tons of "S" Cayennes out here, not many players for the "big boy" Turbo version. If I was forced to drive one it would have to be the Turbo...

Both models of the Cayenne offer atrocious fuel economy, so it has that going for it.

I must admit though, lowered with 22x10 + 22x11.5 the Cayenne looks pretty dope...

i just saw old one on the road and it looks really bad - it doesnt look like expensive vehicle at all.... now that facelift makes it look a lot better. Of course, there are a lot of tuner kits in Europe that people with cayenne buy, because it looks bad stock...

I always had mixed feelings about this truck. Sometimes I like it but sometimes I hate it. Hope this one looks better in all trim levels.
