Welcome to the 300 km/h-Club

Elegant aerodynamics kit

327 km/h top speed thanks to Vmax override

up to 603 hp and 574 Nm by sport-kit installation

Various wheel sets in 19, 20 and 21 inch designs

HAMANN, by trade a top-class tuning specialist for BMW vehicles, is crowning its tuning suite for this brand with its latest creation. It is daring to touch the top model amongst the Bavarian saloons, namely the M5.

The high-revving 5 litre V10 with 507 bhp and 520 Nm is not allowed to show off the full effects of its power in the series version. But just how fast might the M5 be able to race? HAMANN supplies the answer: 327 km/h, which is achieved solely by means of Vmax override. For those who are not satisfied with this and who desire even more power, HAMANN offers now a solution. The Laupheim-based tuner provides the M5 with a sports-kit composed of high-performance headers, sports metal catalysts, a engine map optimisation and a Vmax-override. The 10-cylinder engine then produces lordly 603 hp and 574 Nm.

HAMANN adorns the exterior of the M5 with aerodynamic components. For example, a front spoiler, which is attached to the standard front spoiler, helps to create greater downforce. Alternatively, this can also be achieved by a new, sportier front spoiler, whose built-in ellipsoid fog lights lend the “face” of the BMW more character. The sides of the M5 are edged with subtle side sills, which make the saloon appear even more powerful. Characterised by a diffusor the HAMANN rear panel with cut-out for the HAMANN 4-pipe-rear silencer teem with sportiness. The roof is crowned by a roof spoiler, which also helps to ensure that the M5 remains firmly on the road at high speeds. Further downforce is generated by the rear spoiler that is harmoniously integrated into the vehicle contours. More dynamic than the standard-fitted mirrors are the sports mirrors offered by HAMANN for all left-hand drive cars, which are electrically adjustable and heated, and optionally also electrically folding. All parts, except the front apron, HAMANN offers also in carbon-kevlar.

Four stainless steel tailpipes, each with a 76 mm diameter, are a sign of the HAMANN 4-pipe sports rear silencer. Its sound – which is enough to give you goosebumps – emphasizes the sheer power of this saloon. But beware – the risk of acoustic addiction is extremely high!

A suspension lowering kit with progressive-action suspension springs is used for lowering the body. This brings the HAMANN-M5 30 mm closer to the tarmac at the front and 25 mm lower at the rear. Anyone who paid attention during physics can imagine just what is required to slow down a vehicle travelling at high speed. The HAMANN engineers have certainly done their homework and have given the BMW a sports braking system on the front axle.

It is composed of 2 slotted and inside-vented brake discs, 380 mm in diameter and 34 mm thick, 2 HAMANN eight-piston fixed calliper brakes in red (other colours are of course available on request), special brake pads, flexible steel brake pipes and adaptors, plus the complete fastening hardware. Fitted with braking equipment such as this, nothing stands in the way of pushing the dial on the speedometer past the 250 km/h mark.

Customers are spoilt for choice when it comes to the HAMANN range of wheels. The tuning specialists from Laupheim offer no fewer than five wheel types in 19 to 21 inch versions. A single-piece wheel rim in the “HM2” design is good for starters. It is available in the dimensions 8.5 J x 19 (for front and rear axle) and in 10 J x 19 (rear axle only). The five-spoke wheel rim is available in the version “Silber” (silver) and can be supplied fitted with size 255/40 ZR 19 tyres (front) and size 285/35 ZR 19 tyres (rear). Moving up a level is the single-piece light alloy wheel “Anniversary I”, which has the appearance of a composite wheel. Also available in the version “Silber”, this 19 inch wheel gleams in a multi-spoke design with its rim flange featuring a mirror-finish INOX stainless steel lip. The dimensions and tyre combinations correspond to those of the “HM2” wheel. HAMANN also offers the “Anniversary I” design as a 20 inch version. The dimensions are then 9 J x 20 for use on the front and rear axle and 10.5 J x 20, which can only be used for the rear axle. The tyre combination typically offered by HAMANN measures 255/35 ZR 20 at the front and 285/30 ZR 20 at the rear.

To get started in the composite wheel rim segment, HAMANN offers its “PG2” wheel design. Its striking five-spoke design stands out pleasantly from the crowd. This wheel, which is available in “Silber” with a mirror-finish, exchangeable INOX stainless steel lip, can be supplied for the front and rear axle in the dimensions 8.5 J x 19 and for the rear axle in 10 J x 19. HAMANN combines the two sizes with each other and fits them with size 255/40 ZR 19 and 285/35 ZR 19 tyres. It is possible to order the “PG3” wheel in a 19 or 20 inch design. The silver wheel is impressive with its classic five-spoke outfit and mirror-finish INOX stainless steel lip. Sizes for the front and rear axle: 9 J x 19 or 9 J x 20. The dimensions 10 J x 19 and 10.5 J x 20 are designed exclusively for use on the rear axle. HAMANN also recommends a combination of 9 J and 10 J, respectively 9 J and 10.5 J and supplies complete sets of wheels with tyres in the sizes 255/40 ZR 19 and 285/35 ZR 19 in addition to 255/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20.

The range is crowned by the HAMANN 21 inch light alloy wheel design "EDITION RACE", for the front axle in the dimension 9.0 J x 21 available with size 255/30-21 tyres, for the rear axle in 10.5 J x 21 with size 295/25-21 tyres. Needless to say, HAMANN also offers sets of shims and anti-theft systems with lockable wheel bolts for the rims.

The tuning specialist from Laupheim also offers various accessories for the M5. For instance, by fitting an interior set made from carbon for the dashboard and centre console, customers can add a touch of racing car atmosphere to their cockpits. This effect is augmented by various aluminium components. For example, HAMANN offers a driver’s footrest made from this light metal, a hand brake lever and the complete set of pedals to match. An exclusive set of floor mats bearing the HAMANN logo in silver is also part of the interior range. Needless to say, HAMANN will also customise any M5 according to each customer’s specific requests. By way of example, extravagant leather upholsteries in various colours are possible. As are extensive multimedia conversions with DVD, TV or Playstation, for example.

I have been saying that over and over until it finally hit me...hard. I've been seeing more modded new 5'ers. They seem to be able to handle extreme lip sizes, more than e39's. Lowered with the fat wheels and boom, I'm losing it for e39 slowly but surely.

I aggree...i'm not feeling the side skirts or the wheels really. On a black car the look ok but on that red...yuck.

And I would be sceptical of Hamann's claims. They also offer a 600+ motor kit which includes Full exuhuast and ECU upgrade.

100 more hp from a full exhuast and ECU upgrade........humm..

Maybe on a turbo car but on a N/A....I'll believe it when I see it.

But all in all the car is a beast, awsome power, sound, handling..they really are a blast to drive!
