What would you buy?
Thought I would try and gather some feedback on what would be a good selection for a "next" car. I recently sold my Acura NSX and my Lexus SC and was looking for something to fill the void in my garage since the wife still has her LS430. Here is my short list....
1. 2000 BMW M5
2. 2001 BMW M3
3. 2000 Corvette Coupe
4. 2002 Lexus SC430
My purchase will essentially be driven a few times monthly at the most. I am most concerned with the deprecation on all the above cars and what do you guys think will hold its value the most in the next 48 months or so......
Thanks for any feedback.

I'm in a similar situation as you are. I'm selling my NSX to my brother and I'm already starting to regret it. Anyway, I've been thinking of what to replace the NSX and my daily driver (93 SC400) that I'm trying to get rid of for a while now. From your list, I would choose the BMW M5 as I myself was thinking of an E39 BMW only I was going for the 540i. The M3 is a great car too though. The SC430 probably would hold its value the most though with I think the M5 coming in 2nd.
Just for kicks, some of the other cars I was thinking of is the 2003+ W209 Mercedes CLK 500, and new E90 BMW 330. Maybe the C32 AMG 4 door as well. Good luck.

Well, since your wife has the reliable comfortable luxury family/milti-passenger sedan, you should get the sporty performance coupe as an alternate ride.
I'd go for the M3 or M5. The SC is nice but it's pretty much a two door convertible LS; luxurious but not sporty at all. The Corvette is good, but it's a Chevy ('nuff said).

Thanks for the feedback fella's.
This is honestly this first time I've really had to sit back and choose what car I want ednext. In the past, I always had my eye on another car before I sold my current one.
I really should stay away from the domestic cars simply for a resale standpoint thought. We just sold our 2004 Grand Cherokee Limited yesterday and I had to eat $6,200 to payoff the lien to free the title for the new owner/lienholder. Keep in mind this truck only had 18,000 miles on it and our loan was with 1.9% financing.
I do believe if I can find an 2000 M5 in acceptable condition in the high 20's would be a pretty safe bet. I can't imagine a 400hp car dipping below $20,000 in value since a majority of the depreciation should have already been realized.
Oh yeah, Chris, what year is your NSX?

Cool. I am JohninFL over on Prime.
I had my 91 NSX advertised over there and received a decent amount of interest in the car. I priced the car somewhat high at $31k hoping I would not sell it, but sure enough it sold to a non-member who was lurking. The guy came down last weekend, paid $30,250 for the car and drove it back to North Carolina.
Be thankful you are selling your NSX to a family member. I can't put into words the sorrow I had when I handed over the title/keys/records to the new owner and watched him drive into the distance. Sad day for sure.

I would choose either the M-5, or the corvette. The M-3 although nice looking has a lot of problems with them, the C5 corvette still looks nice, and doesn't look to much different from the C6
