Exclamation Need help fast!! Car might be flooded.

My SC is LOWWWW. Its been raining like crazy here today. I was behind a 18 wheeler and couldnt really see ahead of me. Suddenly, he pulled into a parking lot to the right. I was like ok. Then I see in front of me. Water a couple inches high. I think crap I better pull into a parking lot . I couldnt reverse so I found the next parking lot ahead of me. Water was over 1 ft high. Anyways I pull into the nearest parking lot and find my way clear back home via another route. When I get home the first thing I did is pop my hood. I have a BFI and theres a little opening in the bumper for the air... or in this case water... to get through. Anways I took out my air filter and found out it was wet. Water DID get inside the engine. What do I do????

Did it drive like normal on the way home? If you hydrolocked you'd know it.

Yea how did it run on the way home? Is the car running? Dry the filter someway and possibly change the oil and you should be fine.

JJG2005 has a point.....if there were enough water inside the cylinders to hydrolock it you would have known it. Most of whatever water was inside the cylinders probably went out the exhaust as steam once the engine warmed up. But just to be safe, have the oil and filter changed, replace the air filter, jack the car up and and have the underside looked at by a trusted mechanic or technician for any obvious problems....especially in the rubber boots that cover the CV and universal joints and in the exhaust system for any looseness or damage. The pressure from the steam going out the pipe from the water in the engine could have loosened the catalytic converter mounts or pipe connectors.
