thats here in kuwait, the guy in the SL65 has his limiter taken off thats why he beat the SLR, if you notice the SLR was already maxed out when the sl65 passed him, still they were going over 200mph, PS the guy in the SLR lives next to me and the guy that lives next to him has a carrera GT, ( I have a durango and a 69 mustang go figure :P )

It may be chipped but other than the speed limiter I am not at all surprised even if it were stock.. The top end on the 65 is going to be better because of the different engine designs. The SLR is supercharged which robs power at the top end --- better acceleration but slower up top. The 65, while it is no slouch from a stand still, just has gobs of torque and is turbo charged which does not take away from the engines power. This past weekend I drove a CL65 and the thing is unreal--- very quiet not like my SL, somewhat turbine like--- but the power never seemed to quit. I am seriously thinking of replacing my wife's LS430 with the CL.

that makes sense lou and biggie, i saw that the slr was maxed out on speedo already but the sl65 just kept on going, so it must have the limiter removed.
mags and reviews have said that the top end speed of the 65 series is completely unreal, it's on par with the enzo and so.
props to the sl65
it must pissed the hell out of the slr owner, hahhaa

Look at the long strip of lane, that's a pretty long race too.

Two awesome cars. ]
The SL65 is based on the standard SL and is rated 604hp 738tq weighs 4570 pounds and costs about $180k.
The SLR is the supertrick exotic built by McClaren and is rated at 617hp/575tq, weighs 3750 pounds and costs $453,000
Given the choice I would take the SLR
Given reality I would love to own an SL65
BTW, the STOCK 600 TTV12s from MB are UNDER-RATED. My guess is that the AMG 65s are underrated as well.
