Yes they are VERY interested in going AWD, they would however settle with the FWD ES if the price is right. My parents are not SUV people, or I'd be the first to suggest an RX series, hybrid or not.

The ES is ok, but it is a v6 Camry in my mind.. Could save bucks by getting that. But as far as all wheel drive cars go, The Infiniti g35x is very nice. They can get one under 40g's.

The thing with the Camry is that its not going to be as luxurious as we can get with the ES, which is what they really want.

The G35x is a little on the smaller side compared to the ES/A6.

How about the Avalon?

(I would still go for the IS250 though...)

The Camry has leather, optional navi, optional wood kit...So much the same...But yeah the ES has a sleeker look to it, softer leather, nice instrumentation. I guess that is what they are feeling. I had ES loaners and the one thing I didn't like about that car is the steering. It is too loose.

The exterior styling of the Avalon is not very appealing to them, although the new Avalon looks considerably better than the previous generation.

They passed fully on the Subaru, wanting more luxury.

Passed on the IS250, too small.

Took a gigantic interest in the ES330.
Got a price quote @ $28k cash including a $7000 trade-in, or $399 a month for 36 months and 12k miles per year.

Took an even bigger interest in the Audi A6.
Got a price quote @ $42,900 cash for an Audi A6 with the Premium Package + Sunroof package, including the same $7000 trade-in, or $499 a month and 10k miles per year for either 24 or 36 months.

My dad is trying to talk the Audi down to under $41k, at which point he said he will buy. Dealer doesn't want to go below $42,5 as it stands right now.
Unless your parents need or want the Audi Quattro's traction ( I assume this is an AWD Quattro model ) I think the ES330 is a better car. it is smooth, quiet, well-built, has an interior more suggestive of a $50,000-$60,000 car than a $35,000 one, and is far more reliable than just about any Audi product....although earlier versions have had owner complaints about transmission shifting. It has FWD for realtively good foul-weather traction, although of course not the equal of AWD. It is essentially a redone and far more luxurious Camry.
The Audi, however, has a well-crafted interior like the ES330 and has the benefits of AWD traction....but as other posters have pointed out, you can get the AWD traction in several different Lexus products as well. The GS300AWD is my favorite among AWD Lexus products.

The GS3AWD is a little out of budget as it stands, but I do think they like the idea of the quattro on the Audi, also, they seemed to enjoy the interior of the Audi a little bit more, partly due to the in dash monitor and Audi's version of iDrive as the controls.

I love the design of the new Audi A6. Audi sets the bar when it comes to interior fit and finish

fit an finish? You mean interior looks and perception of quality I guess. Audi interiors dont age that well, my friend's A4 has peeling steering wheel, and few worn out buttons (that were never pressed, like "esp"), and thats after less than 2 years.

Otherwise, A6 is an nice ride and price is nice...
