First baby Bentley(300C) now . . .
The February 2006 issue of Motor Trend contains what appear to be computer renderings or photos of the 2006/2007/2008 Chrysler Imperial and Dodge Challenger. While the Challenger photos reveal nothing new, the the Imperial images offer the first glimpse to date of the forthcoming luxury car from Chrysler. The Challenger images match recent pictures and spy shots exactly, which potentially lends to the credibility of the Imperial photos. In early December, it was rumored that Chrysler might be planning to revive the Imperial nameplate, which was discontinued in 1993. Sources said that if the Chrysler 300C is a “baby Bentley,” the Imperial would be a “baby Rolls-Royce Phantom.” Based on the Motor Trend images, the car appears to take heavy inspiration from the Phantom. The Imperial is expected to debut in early January at the Detroit auto show, alongside the Challenger.

Looks like an ugly Phantom clone. The front end looks gross. I thought the Imperial was going to be a simple stretch version of the 300C?? Might as well make an entirely new model.

just wondering but clearly chrysler's designs reflect heavily upon Bentley and now RR.
and yet they're just called the "baby versions" of those other makers...
when hyundai introduced the new sonata.. everyone jumped to the idea that hyundai was just copying designs from honda and toyota and is it just me or is chrysler doing the same thing?
i don't find these designs very original (doesn't mean that i don't like them, the designs are very nice) but they're "copies" of bentley and RR...
when hyundai did it, everyone was quick to jump to the copy conclusion and yet no one heavily criticizes chrysler for doing the same thing? what's the difference? is it because chrysler is copying from a more expensive automaker or is it because hyundai is hyundai.?
not to get flamed or start a debate but that came to mind as i was reading over this thread.

i think this is just pathetic. Yes the car looks good, because it is a frickin carbon copy of a Phantom!!! Chrysler has too much of a history... especially now that MB owns them, to be doing something as cheap as ripping car designs off. One car... ok... we'll let that slide. But they're obviously making a habit of this, and this Imperial, if anything like the real.... isn't simply "insprired" by the phantom, it basically is one. Thumbs down for Daimlerchrysler. BE AT LEAST SOMEWHAT ORIGINAL.
