Thumbs up Calculator instead of car's computer?

this deutsh that i work with was trying to tell me that someone could take a calculator and use it instead of the car's computer, has any one ever heard of this?? i asked him if he made this up now, or earlier? He didn't reply...

Just make sure its not a solar-powered calculator, otherwise u have to keep a Mag-Lite handy if you wanna drive at night.

Rather OT but I wish Lexus, which has thought of everything, adds a calculator to the NAVI system....lol.

maybe he meant that they could tune an aftermarket computer? because i'm sure they could do that...some of the honda people use gameboys to tune, though i'm not exactly sure how it works

Depends on what he is talking about. The computer is made up of several decade counters which is what calculators are made of.

Even still, if he was serious - he's an ID10T

It doesn't make sense because the car is making continuous calculations sometimes thousands of times a second.
