Ok CL Peeps...I need your help! *PIX*
My friend Loves his car, but lately, he has been feeling down in the dumps about it. he lives in sunny california and he did a photoshoot today. the only reason he didnt shine the tires is cause he was out of tireshime, so bear with him. Give him some props and lets also have some constructive critisizm (sp). Like i said he loves this car, and a cookie goes to the first person (NOT YOU AJ ) who gets year, make and model correct. (no-one will, so noone gets a cookie) LOL.
Heres his end of the deal, if he gets props, he will join CL. he likes the lexus brand but as of yet, knows little about them, this is my way of getting him hooked, so without further ado, his car:
and this was taken on a trip to vegas last year:
His mods are:
-k&n ru-3530 mated to a custom maf adapter.
-alumnium intake tube.
-sho-shop y pipe.
-nitto 455 tires.
-limo tint back three windows, 20% front two.
-door bezels painted body color.
-93 Cobra "SVT" badge on moonroof cover.
-MN Autosports Blue anodized underdrive Pulley kit (not installed).
-Roush Performance 2" Lowering springs (not installed).
-Kenwood Exceleon HU.
-Alpine Type S's in doors and rear deck (6 total).
-Infinity Tweeters.
-Subs coming soon.
-Cougar Leather and Aluminum Shift ****.
-Door Ding Gaurds Removed.
-Sylvania Silverstars High and Low beams.
-hella optilux driving lights.
So, what do you guys think? basically he doenst think his car can get props on a lexus site, he doesnt think its worthy LOL. Im tired of it, hes a car enthusiast too as we all are,he deserves props, so lets hear your thoughts and opinions!
and the guesser of the YEAR make and model still gets a cookie, except for AJ cause he already knows.

Rear bumper is kewl. Nice leather conversion. svt countors need more boost.
i like the choice of lighter weight wheels & tires VS huge rims & slamming it.
I don't care what someone pays for rims. Performance always beats ghetto!

Can't guess the year exactly but it is probably a '98 or '99....those were peak years for the SVT Contour.
The Contour itself, and the identical Mercury Mystique, were introduced into the American market in 1994 as a suppliment to the slightly larger Taurus and Sable. They were based on the German / European Ford Mondeo, a vehicle sold mostly as a hatchback or wagon. Ford ( like many other manufacturers ) did not think the European 5-door versions would sell well here so it was introduced here in sedan form only. It came with a choice of an in-line 4 or a V6....and the later SVT 195-HP V6, which was considered a lot of power in those days for a car that size.

The 98's had 195 HP, the 98.5 and up had the 200 HP model, uprated wheels etc. LOW LOW production #s make this car extremely rare.
although silver frost pearl effect was one fo the more common colors. a 2000 Contour SVT in Tropic Green Metallic/Tan interior is Worth Bucnhes, cause only 207 were EVER made.

Just about every SVT Contour I ever saw was silver wth dark blue leather inside and a 5-speed. No automatics were ever offered to my knowledge. ( and I did not know they built those 207 green ones you mentioned ).
Those wheels and tires on the SVT must have been very desirable. One of the funniest stories, though at the same time quite sad, I ever went through on a test-drive was at a Ford dealership where I was waiting for an SVT to come in so I could do a review on one...and as a possible purchase as well ( obviously they were hard-to-get ). Well, guess what? The car came in, I got a phone call that night , showed up at the dealership the next morning for a test-drive......only to see the salesman come out with a frown on his face. Seems like sometime between the time the truck came in and unloaded the damn car and dawn the next morning somebody jacked the car up and made off with ALL FOUR tires and wheels...right there at the dealership where they supposedly have guard dogs. Go figure.
Last, concerning your friend. By all means invite him to join CL, Lexus owner or not. That's what CAR CHAT is for...and he has a car that is not very common today. We'd love to talk about it with him.
