I'll echo the comments that say the new Tahoe interior is light years ahead of the old one. The big question will be whether or not die-hard GM loyalists agree with us. Face it--that new interior looks a lot more like something that would come from Toyota or Honda than the GM those loyalists have continued buying trucks from for years.

Ok, a little off topic here but...

My wife and I are in the market for a new car for her. She LOVES her 2000 RX and would keep it forever if she could - however, we have two kids and when we need to transport a third (daughter's friend or something), the fact is, the RX can not handle a third car seat - just won't fit.

The new Tahoe looks nice - but....
I was shocked to find that the third row does not fold away flat. Why? With a clean sheet design I don't understand why they would not incorporate this feature. Sure we can remove the rear seats, but they weigh 65lbs EACH! The fact is that we only occasionally need the third row, but when we do, it is not feasible to add the third row back in as needed.

Why would GM do a bonehead move like this? I can only guess that there was not room due to the suspension.

PS - love that new Tahoe - very nice truck.

Most likely either the suspension, as you note, or the AWD hardware in back under the floor.

Wow - that dash looks soooo much better. Not only the design but the materials look upscale too. I'm not too crazy about the aluminum trim AND the wood though..

To me, aluminum trim means sporty and wood trim means luxury...... I guess they're trying to appeal to everyone!

Wood and brushed metal together is becoming more and more common now on many new vehicles, especially with beige interiors............my own Outback has it. IMO it is the classiest interior combo you can get.

Those of us old enough to remember GM cars from the 70's and 80's know they had much better interiors than the imports. My 73 and 77 Monte Carlo's had interiors matched by todays luxury imports. Nice to see GM make a step in the right direction for a change. More is needed for them to pull themselves back to respectability.

What is funny is even as bad as the interiors were, people buy these things in droves. The cars could still use more work.
But its good they are not WAITING to change it and taking steps to fix before it really becomes a glaring problem.

Its not perfect but its MILES ahead of the last one and I am proud of them.
