compare this Playboy article to any MT or CD article in 2005... no contest.
Pretty damn good article. It shows while GM is where it is, and why it will stay there for a while. You simply dont improve when you deny you have issues. While BUICK (with its small and old lineup) has moved ahead of Toyota in dependability, according to JD Power, Toyota is still #1 full line manufacturer, and Lexus is #1 period. What about Chevrolet brand? Not only quality, but the fact about they are rebranded Daewoos now (so much about US)? Fact that GM dances around that shows how out of touch they are.
GM constantly speaks about big Toyota PR machine, but when you read their statements and PR releases, it is quite easy to notice who is talking crap.
Ask Toyota official about their being #1 and their quality, they will tell you something to the tune of: "We really have to improve our quality. Industry is doing great and is catching up to us. We have to do better or we will be destroyed!"
Ask GM official about the same: "We already have the best cars, and best quality. Media is destroying us for no reason. This statistic here shows we are the best here, but dont read one below it, it is wrong because of Toyota PR. Just read the one I underlined. Toyota has had the most recalls in history last year, Buick is number one."
Saying that if Aztec was Toyota or Honda, it would have double sales is to show how out of reality they are. They are way too defensive about everything and they are sinking down fast.
When you point out GM problems in an article, GM pulls all the ads from the paper. When you ask Toyota about why is something bad, they usually give you an honest answer about being wrong and trying to improve. Customers understand this and this is why they have trusted Toyota and Honda more than big 3.
