It isn't JUST a 'simple rebadging' - they do have different features.

Well, that's just it, spwolf. It does work, at least to some extent. Just about every auto manufacturer in the buisness does it to some extent, although sometimes it can be difficult to draw the line between simple rebadging and general platform-sharing. It can range from taking two virtually identical vehicles and just putting different trim and nameplates on them ( like the Ford Escape / Mercury Mariner ) to taking a common chassis and making almost two completely different vehicles out of them ( like the sheet-metal Chevy Equinox and plastic-bodied Saturn VUE ).
