Great. I've always been a NASCAR / Winston Cup fan. I find F1 and CART ( or whatever they call it now ) about as exciting as watching paint dry.
Toyota, of course, with the Tundra, has run in the Craftsman Truck series for several years, but this is the first time I have seen any expansion beyond that. I take it this Camry will be running the 4.3L V8 with a carburator and restrictor plates...or maybe the new 4.6?

Toyota Racing Development had to make a pushrod engine from scratch to compete in the truck series. All that, and Toyota ended up this season 2nd in the manufacturer's standings behind Chevrolet, only one win behind in fact .
I'd guess they'd be using the same basic engine from the racing Tundra in the Nascar Camry as well.

Finally, I've heard this rumor for almost 10 years now and they did it. I think Toyota have to made certain model in U.S, at least 75% of the car sold in U.S per year to be consider to enter the Nascar. I think they did the 75% U.S made Camry per year. Way to go Toyota.
Now, we will see the Camry driver put the Nascar sticker on the bumper and the car number as you see those Chevy guys with # 3 or #8 on their pick up truck....

The current Dodge body used is a FWD in production.

It's actually Ford that has a FWD body... The Taurus is FWD in production. The Charger (which is what Dodge uses) is RWD in production. The Dodge entries that were FWD in production were the Stratus and the Intrepid bodies.
I cant wait to see the Camry running around... Maybe this will help bring aftermarket support for the Camry! I might have to see if I can get my hands on some Daytona 500 tickets for next year!!!

Sorry. I was thinking of a couple years back when Dodge was using the Avenger body (I think.).

I can't wait to see Toyota dealers in small towns like mine selling all black camry's with black alloy wheels, and yellow letters on the tires! Haha, wow, I never thought i'd see the day when the Camry made its big time motorsport debut.

Yep... Dodge changed their bodies, if I recall correctly, after a few races last season. It was wierd because the Charger wasnt on the street yet and they had changed the body style already.
Oh, RED BULL RACING will be using the Toyota platform. If I was anxious before, I am SERIOUSLY STOKED now!!!! Red Bull Racing, and Toyota... Yup, I'm buying a decal for my 'Yoda!
