Undisguised . . . convertible version in the works for 2008
Ryan Porter, purveyor of Carster.com, recently snapped these terrific pics of an undisguised Audi R8 outside his office in Santa Monica. Though Porter wishes he had been more aggressive with snaps and gotten some more, this near profile shot is gorgeous and shows the R8 in all its production glory for the first time. Porter's telling of his encounter with the R8 and the irritated engineers driving it can be found here. Check out Carster while you're there, as well. The site is an online community for car enthusiasts and Porter believes members should be able to do whatever they want with their profiles. Carster will even host your own car blog and once a month the member with the most votes wins a $1,000 check.
In other Audi R8 news, it appears a convertible version is in the works and will be introduced a year after the coupe sometime in 2008. Though it's been reported the coupe will be powered by the Lamborghini Gallardo's V10, it seems Audi is still considering a V8 to keep the R8 and Gallardo from cannibalizing each other's sales.

SPY PHOTOS: Audi R8 – in Full Showroom Trim

Here are latest photos taken just yesterday in the United States capturing Audi’s upcoming new super sports car R8 in full showroom trim during the shooting of a commercial. Here the car can be seen for the first time clearly from all angles while speeding up and down a mountain pass for the film crew.
Overall design is nearly unchanged from the dramatic LeMans Quattro concept car which Audi had on display at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. Audi’s management had then decided to go ahead with a production version in order to give Audi a high-performance sports car to compete with the Porsche 911
The new sports car will not be called the LeMans, a name already used by Pontiac many years ago, but instead will stick with Audi’s typical alpha-numeric names and will be the R8. It is expected to go into production late this year, and will be launched in early 2007.

It will be an awesome car, & it's not bad in looks, but from the side, it looks disproportional to me, the front hood part seems short compared to the rest of the car . . .
