yep, just write-in to the department regarding the situation. The same thing happened to me when I got a new car and was parked in Hollywood. I just wrote in to them and provided proof and the charges were dropped.

or maybe you can go to chp and have the ticket written off? then you just pay 10 bucks or so? is it still a fix ticket?

In Mexico, I don't know of a state that does not have front and back plates. My cousin does not use his plate on the front of his Golf VR6 for aesthetic reasons and just bribes the cops if they ever pull him over for it. However, all Americans I know remove their front plates (if their state has it) and and cops raise hell complaining they must have the front plates. A nice call to the U.S. Embassy on their cell phones shuts the bastards up really quick (as they can lose their jobs). The local police (except for traffic violations) have no power on roadblocks to ask for foreign-plated vehicles to show their car permits of any registration. Only federal level can do this.

I believe TX requires a front plate.

The reason for the front plate is so they can hit you with the radar gun

I got one of those too, they are just easy revenue for your city.

Not worth fighting, its like $10 if you show up at a police station with a plate and have them sign the ticket.

Mexico City started a radar gun program with stationary cameras to shoot the rear plates. I was wondering why they would set it up that way in Texas with the front plates.

That, and red light cameras. Cities that start adding red light cameras suddenly start enforcing the front plate law.

I've noticed that too. In Cerritos, they get you both ways.

When Pasadena put some in, one Friday night while stopped at a light, two officers walked between the stopped cars. They motioned over all the vehicles they wanted to cite. I saw DUI, expired, equipment, warrants...they had the whole booking thing just a half-block away. I was lucky to be cut loose for the front plate but he told me if he came across my car another time with no plate, he'd write it up.

It will be interesting if the radar gun tags me down here as there is no reciprocity with U.S. states and Mexico.
