As Richie stated, we got the E36 M3, no E46 sedan was made. Odd since the E36 M3 sedan sold very well in the states.

Thing is, the E36 bodywork was very minimal to change from a stock 3, just air dam, side skirts, rear, and diff side view mirrors.

The E46 had much more bodywork done to differentiate teh M3 from the 3 and BMW didn't want to invest in this bodywork to the sedan.

I thought the E36 M3 sedan was only available for only one model year ? Not aware the sedan version was available in the US.
I haven't seen it in Canada since the US version of the E36 M3 is exclusive to USA I think, it's a tamer version of the E36 M3 (240hp) versus the European version E36 M3(280 something hp & later 320 something hp)
Canada had only imported a limited # of the European version E36 M3 .
