Who really cares about spy shots of this car? It will look almost exactly the same as the C6 that's been out since late 2004. Actually it will probably look worse, both the C5 and C6 Z06 look worse in my opinion than the base Vettes, I'm not a huge fan of the hood or side scoops on either gen of the Z06. The huge hood buldge needed for the supercharger is probably going to look out of place.
This car is all about performance, so spy shots aren't really going to tell us anything. I'm looking forward to reading the first road/comparison test though

DETROIT — Rumors abound on details of the new, hyper-speed Corvette, so it’s time for a reality check. Here’s what we hear from the largest Corvette dealer in Michigan. —Jim Dunne
1. Chevy will offer manual transmission on the new ’Vette.
Verdict: False
Word is that the blown engine is too strong for any of GM’s manuals, so the uber Corvette will only come in automatic. It’s a reversal of precedent—the automatic transmission proves stronger here than the manual.
2. The super Corvette will have twin turbochargers to develop 650 horsepower.
Verdict: False
A single supercharger nestled between the cylinder banks with do the job all by itself. Reports have the intercooler mounted above the supercharger, just under the air scoop in the new hood.
3. Chevy plans to produce 3000 of the new ’Vettes.
Verdict: True
Dealers are already accepting orders for the 1500 cars we’ll see each year for the next two years. Then production will stop.
4. The new Corvette will cost $100,000.
Verdict: True
The price tag we reported earlier could climb even higher. We now hear “between 100 and 125” as the target for Chevy marketers.
5. GM will drop the current Corvette Z06 from its lineup.
Verdict: Jury’s out
We’ve heard stories both ways—that the Z06 will continue on the moderate end of this high-performance series, or that it’ll be gone altogether. Not sure how this will shake out, but we’ll keep you posted.

anyway, GM just managed to somehow screwed up the BD/SS/Z07/jesus/weyoucallit. is it really that hard for them to call getrag and tell them they want to order 3000 v161s?

If MSRP is $100-125, I'd expect no less than a $25K markup. No thanks.. at $125-$150K, there are other choices I'd personally make. For the die hard Corvette fan, I'm sure they will scoop them up.

Chevrolet Corvette ‘Blue-Devil’ to be called ZR1
Posted on Tuesday 4 September 2007
After months of spy shots and speculation, word on the street is that Chevrolet’s upcoming super-Corvette will be called the ZR1. Up until now, the car was carrying its nickname title of Blue Devil and was even tipped to be called the Z07 or SS. Apparently it’ll be called the ZR1 and make its debut at next year’s Detroit Auto Show.
Set to go into production next year, the new car is tipped to feature a supercharged version of the LS3 6.2L V8 engine and could output anywhere up to 650hp putting it well clear of the Viper SRT-10’s 600hp figure. The same engine is also expected to make its way into the new CTS-V, but in detuned form. The new ZR1 will be an ultra-exclusive low volume model so expect an accordingly high price tag to match.
The ZR1 name was first used by Chevy back in 1971 for a limited run of just eight special edition models and then featured again in the late ‘80s for a new model co-developed with Lotus.
