The 'packaging'/space-efficiency of the car is nice but luxury cars aren't purely about 'functionality' there must be more emotion. That has been Lexus' problem as well to some extent (boring designs) and they seem to be addressing that some - the new LS for example is a more exciting design than any previous model.

Acura has a small number of products and tries to do a lot with each but has limited option configurations and luxury buyers like variation and customization. Lexus has a MUCH bigger product line and more option variation within each. This gives the dealers a better chance to 'catch' a customer with the right configuration / price.

And then there's the dealerships themselves. An Acura dealership looks like a 'slightly' upscale Honda dealership. Lexus dealerships now have these HUGE high showroom buildings which are impressive and make people special when they visit.

The RL is a very nice, technologically advanced and innovative vehicle. But it's trying to do too much with a weak brand infrastructure behind it.

Bottom line: ALL HAIL 1SICKLEX.

YES YES YES!!!!!

Yeah, Acura should listen to their chairman of the dealer council (Mike McGrath).

It's interesting to note he owns 2 successful Lexus Elite dealerships here in Chicago (bought my '96 SC from them)

My $.02... Acura needs to quit farting around, bring out the new NSX, then follow up with an '08 Acura Legend w/ 450hp V8 rear and/or AWD for $65K then they'll be back in the game...if the game they want is Lexus/BMW/Benz. But if the game they want is Hunda 'plus' then stay with what they have now..

I would disagree....in order to bring pristage to the brand, they need to axe all their RSX, TSX, RDX, CSX derivatives...nothing is more of a turn off to a luxury clientel is to walk in and see pimple face dweebs all around you buying the some $20k car next to your $70k car. They should leave the Tl as the entry level car. But Honduh will never give this up, since the Integras and Legends of the world is what defined the brand.

Huh? I don't think Lexus has ANY decent rims.

acura definitely needs time. although they started out about the same time, but acura has definitely been way too slow on growing and took couple of very wrong directions. that's why the gap between it and lexus. same to dealership, if they can't have the kind of profit, it's hard for them to have the kind of lexus dealership experience.

that's why i don't hink reducing the price is a good move for them
Agreed. Basically Honda just doesn't have anywhere near as deep pockets as Toyota.

I think those 18 " split spokes on the IS350 look pretty decent for stock wheels. I'm starting to like those on the GS450h too . . .

HAHHAAA, what can i say

i do like the spider wheels on the gs430. don't really like the 5 spoke though, very funny looking imho.

anyway, good point on axing a lot of the lineup in acura. the rsx and the tsx.... their presence in the acura lineup won't really bring them too far at all

If I'm not mistaken, I think neither Bit nor Henry have the HRE's anymore.

I still do

Am I the only one who hates aftermarket rims? I think Lexus and old BMWs have the best looking rims.

Andrew - you're right, I'm with you on the IS350 but that's also because the fitment is good (offset and suspension). I haven't seen any stock rims with decent fitment on the GS.

Wait, so LexArrazo has HRE? I though BBS?

I love aftermarket wheels. But some companies OEM are incredible.

LOL, you're right, Mr. HRE snob.

Actually, I've also warmed up to the L-Tuned 18's I have on my car now.

HRE 448R on my G35c

BBS on my SC430. I'll have to switch to some 20" with fat lips before I even dare pose pics of the car in the SC430 forum again
