Strange Lexus IS ? (Pictures)

not the Avensis
That internet site is wrong. They have no basis for saying it's the new Avensis. Toyota has no reason to test a car in the U.S. that they're not going to sell here. 2nd, despite the camo, that car is clearly a new ES. The roofline, wheels, length & width are all the new ES. The Avensis is a smaller car between the Camry and Corolla in size.
And I love the conclusion that the silver IS is a coupe. How does anyone come up with that from a purely frontal shot? It makes more sense that it's an AWD IS, since it is the frozen north.

Lexus Champion
Based on the size of that car, I would say that it's probably the next gen ES in testing. If it's not an ES, then I would say it's a Toyota Windom (which is basically a Toyota badged ES )

These are some old pics of the new Lexus ES350 before it made its' debut. Also the cold weather testing is being performed in Northern part of Ontario, Canada. The ES350 came from Head office Toyota Canada, which happens to be just 5 mins away from my home. Lately and surprisingly, a few camo rides running around town, and in and out of Toyota Canada covert operation style. It looks to be this is one of them.

Next Generation Toyota Avensis
Toyota’s Avensis model range is about to be renewed in 2007. The current Avensis – one of Toyota’s best sellers – has been on the market since 2003, and its successor will be an all – new car.
It will again be available as sedan and station wagon.
These photos are showing for the first time a glimpse of the Japanese car maker’s top secret – a prototype of the new Avensis, caught during secret cold weather testing in North America.
As can be seen on these shots, the test drivers spotted the photographer lurking at the curb and turned around immediately to disappear forever.
Despite the disguise the car appears to be bigger than its predecessor, its styling – on the photos still hidden under a layer of camouflage – will be smoother and rounder with a sloping hood and coupe-like roof line.
Power is expected to again come from fuel engines between 1,6 and 2,4 litre, and two 2,0 and 2,2 litre Diesel engines.
