I believe they registered both the GS350 and 460 awhile ago.

EDIT: as you can see in the post above me....

Wait a minute. Thats for the entire lineup?? What the hell happened?? Lexus sold almost as many RX330's than the entire Infiniti lineup. Hope the new models help them out.

Thanks for the correction. Hopefully the GS460 and GS350 will launch together with the LS460. Lexus can't delay them any further.

I would argue that the IS is eating away at both GS and ES sales. The fact is, if you don't need the room, the IS250/350 is a better choice costwise vs the ES/GS respectively.

Both ES & GS are about to be replaced by upgraded/redesigned models, so their sales have to slow down. Same happened to the E320 etc. before they upgrade their engines . . .

I disagree (with the GS part). I think that Rogers2 is correct and most people do not know about the GS460/GS350 coming out. The new ES is public - people know about it already - so you could have some argument there except their sales have been way down since the IS came out.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, future sales will provide the answer partially when the new GS & ES comes out. What we think now really won't matter.
It's just opinions anyway, there's no way to prove exactly what % of buyers of what model is going from what brand/model to another brand/model, or how many of the potential buyers are waiting for the new model. But the general trend has always been observed to be : when models are to be replaced, their sales will be down for at least several months. Information do get spread around quicker nowadays than before.

February Auto Sales: Toyota

Toyota U.S. Sales Rise 2.4 Percent in February on Increased Truck Sales

TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) -- Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday that its U.S. vehicle sales rose 2.4 percent last month on growth in truck sales.
The Japanese automaker sold 166,940 vehicles in February, up from 163,059 for the same month in 2005.

Sales of its Toyota division passenger vehicles fell 4.3 percent to 77,304, but the decline was offset by a 9.5 percent gain in sales of the division's light trucks which rose to 68,509.

Overall truck sales increased 8.6 percent to 79,021, while car sales fell 2.6 percent to 87,919. While a number of sport utility vehicles posted lower sales, overall SUV sales grew 9 percent to 42,391.

At the company's Lexus division, vehicle sales rose 7.1 percent to 21,127 units.

American depositary shares of Tokyo-based Toyota rose 22 cents to $107.09 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Shouldn't they have dropped the IS 300 designation in their sales charts by now? Anyhow, Lexus is doing quite well...I'd like to see more sales for the GS, to challenge the E and 5, but perhaps the new engines will help.

I still think Lexus needs to boost its performance image even more...a unifying concept between the IS and GS, perhaps via a GT performance division, or the LF-A etc...

Doesn't make any difference whether anyone outside of the gearhead community knows the GS460/350, ES350, RX350, GS450h, etc. are coming or not. Lexus knows. And Lexus knows exactly when the cars will be in the dealers in volume. To some people it won't make a lot of difference but the last thing Lexus wants is a lot of the previous versions at the dealers when the upgunned versions arrive. There will probably be very minor pricing differences but the difference in the engines is, as we all know, significant. Lexus knows that some proportion, maybe a big proportion, of the outgoing engined models will need official or unofficial discounts to get rid of. I am sure a lot of us feel that the third gen 430 was just not worth the bother over a second gen 400/430 but people are going to be faced at the least with a 3K increase for 0 -60 in the mid to low 5 second range and mileage in the mid to high 20s in the 450h or the 380hp 460. Sales for the third gen GS haven't been bad but they are finally going to get the motors they should have had from the start. According to this months CAR, the LS460 is going to get mid 20s in the pure petro version. Imperial gallon is a bit bigger than ours but it sounds like the GS460 will have 80hp on mine and probably get three or four mpg better mileage. As for taking sales from the 5, it just simply wasn't competitive. The dyno engines are competitive with the 5 (finally) while bimmer has absolutely nothing to compete with the hybrid in RX, GS, LS, or ES. The GS3 has always outsold the GS4 and the difference there is even greater. I would assume that Lexus has shifted production to the new LS as well, or is about to, and I wouldn't want to have a bunch of the outgoing ones on the floor when the new LS arrives. Sales numbers may get a bit whacky here for a while until this all shakes out.

Poor poor poor RL -- t'is a shame that it sells that little. They just need to go ahead & revamp it like they did the Accord.

Let me explain better. Lexus corporate is limiting production of these vehicles, no matter what the demand is. They always do this, as it makes no sense to have a bunch of old inventory on your dealers lot, when the new model is coming or sitting right next to it. Very smart approach. They have done it since day one.

So what I am saying, is, Lexus is limiting production of what to them, is an old model, as the new one is around the corner.

Even Rockville stated, Lexus GS 430s are special orders in the NE, this is probably a nationwide thing.
