February Sales Off So Far
With the parsing of sales numbers now down to less than biweekly, J.D. Power and Associates' Power Information Network (PIN) has some very early February sales results. For the first twelve days of the month, the PIN says sales fell by eight percent, not including fleet sales. Honda was the only brand to post an increase in the abbreviated period, but GM and Toyota fell by a percent and Nissan, Ford, and DaimlerChrysler all were down. Honda, Power says, benefited from the positive PR spin of its various Car of the Year and Truck of the Year awards for its Civic lineup and Ridgeline truck. In terms of market share, GM, Nissan, and Toyota were on the upside, while DaimlerChrysler and Ford saw their early market shares for the month fall.

LET ME QUICKLY SAY;
LEXUS GS PRODUCTION HAS SLOWED AS THEY RAMP UP FOR THE GS 350 AND GS 450H and GS 460. So if sales numbers continue to dip, it is b/c they are limiiting production as the new models are coming soon.

If they haven't been limiting the third gen production for a while they are dumber than a bag of hammers. They are going to have to discount those .0 models a lot to get rid of them when the upgunned motors arrive.

Even though the GS is the best looking car Lexus has imo I disagree with your statment. The majority of people that are buying cars don't know anything about the GS350, GS450H and GS460. The current version still should be stealing sales from the 5 series but it's not. Even though I feel it's a better car. So no excuse.

I always think the GS is more of a E class competitor than a 5 series competitor, regardless of the PR hype from Lexus.

Hopefully VERY soon. They've already lowered production and sales of the GS and yet they haven't even registered trademarks for the GS350 and GS460? The GS will continue its low sales for the bulk of the rest of the year as far as I can see.

WOW....thats a painfully low drop. GS430 on a special order basis only.

GS 300 1,771
GS 430 278
I understand the limited production thing, but thats kinda crazy. The 450h production just started, so I assume a big bulk of sales will be going there when it officially goes on sale next month or the month after.

IS-series is still pretty steady.
