Default TopGear Survey Results

For those of you who don't watch TopGear . . or watch the rarely aired, hacked-up US version.

2005's Top Gear Car Survey was the largest yet, with 76,000 people helping to uncover the best and worst cars in the United Kingdom that money can buy. Cars were rated for reliability, driving enjoyment and dealer service.

2005 Top Gear Survey - the Top 10
1: Honda S2000
2: Lexus IS200/300
3: Lexus RX300
4: Skoda Superb
5: Skoda Octavia
6: Honda Jazz
7: Honda Accord
8: Subaru Legacy
9: Skoda Fabia
10: Subaru Forester

2004 Top Gear Survey - the Top 10

1: Honda S2000
2: Jaguar XJ series
3: Lexus IS 200
4: Honda Jazz
5: Skoda Octavia
6: Toyota Yaris
7: Toyota RAV4 (New)
8: Mazda 6
9: Skoda Fabia -
10: Honda CR-V

2003 Top Gear Survey - the Top 10

1: Jaguar XJ Series
2: Toyota Yaris
3: Skoda Octavia
4: Lexus IS200
5: Honda S2000
6: Mazda MX-5
7: Toyota Celica (new)
8: BMW Z3
9: Mazda 323
10: Subaru Legacy

Very nice to see Lexus on the top 10 list twice for 2005. It's interesting that the S2000 was ranked below the IS, but then surpassed it and has had 1st place for the last two years. Maybe the IS350 will change this for 2006?

A big reason why the S2000 probably made a jump to #1 in 2004 is because it got the upgraded 2.2L engine that year. It may be just a small displacement jump, but for a light high reving car like the S2000 that added torque and retuning really did wonders for the over all drivability and driving dynamics of that car.

They don't offer the IS350 in UK , only the IS250 & IS220d .

No BMW's & Merc's on the list

ah that's probably why. i was wondering why s2k was down the list but suddenly since last yr it's at the top. seriously, if i have fun money around, i want one, i heard that the fun factor is way up there

and it's great great to see the lexus high up on the list too

I am glad Lexus IS300 and RX300 top ten lists on Top Gear survey! Honda S2000 best roadster can buy money! If I want a roadster sport car; Honda S2000 mine pick!

Probably because of the I-Drive and lower-quality fit-and-finish on a lot of the new Bimmers and the poor-quality electronics and unreliability of the Mercs.
