While in Japan, I saw several of the drivers who took us around put the car in "N" at stop lights. (They were driving automatic trannies) Couldn't figure out why they would do this. A couple of the cars we looked at at used lots had really loose auto shift levers. Must be a common practise there.

Typical Taiwanese taxi cab driver manuever.
I've been doing this for years. Haven't really noticed any significant change to my MPGs but oh well, at least you won't ever have to worry about accidentally hitting the gas pedal while waiting for the red light.

truth is......I come from a long line of "row yer own" cars.
..........maybe we feel like we need to be doing something.?
Its not so much the neutral thing for me....as the D to 3rd (and back in the gated shifter).
