To add further confusion, Nissan trademarked JX25, JX35, and JX45 on the same date as well.

My guess is that instead of calling their upcoming small SUV the CX, they are going to call it the VX.

Here's my guess on what happened:

1) Nissan trademarks "CX25" and "CX35" on February 28, 2005.

2) Mazda trademarks "CX-7" on March 9, 2005, but with a December 22, 2004 priority date.

3) Nissan doesn't want the luxury brand Infiniti CX to be associated with the mainstream brand Mazda CX, and Nissan decides to change the moniker.

4) Nissan trademarks "JX25", "JX35", "JX45", "JX47" on April 28, 2005.

Of course, the JX could be a wholly new vehicle, who knows.

In any case, I'm really interested that they used the "JX47" moniker, which may indicate that the next V8's from Infiniti may be 4.7L engines. They couldn't have just pulled the "47" out of their *** for no reason.
I think it's quite funny how there are so many names and monikers being trademarked by different manufacturers.

I'm quite sure manufacturers are well aware enthusiasts check trademarks often, and trademarks cost relatively little money, so I'm guessing a lot of "misleading" trademarking is going on, to confuse enthusiasts, as well as the competition. As well, its likely a good idea to stop others from using similar monikers or names.
