Do you think the E39 M5 has already taken its 4 year hit?

Just curious...I've never owned a BMW or looked closely at them before now...
I have no clue - it could easily be the warranty thing (even though they are still under warranty at that point). I just know that a 3 year lease on a BMW is almost always the most cost effective lease and often kicking it up to 4 years actually increases your payments.

The 2000/2001 E39s have had that hit. The 2002s and 2003s have not (especially the 2003s which REALLY seem to be holding their value). I know the 2000s can be had for around $30ish depending on the condition.

M5 or ???? question answered

I picked it up on Saturday from Bentley of Downers Grove, IL and drove it back to Kansas City. It's quite a bit faster than my GS400 and a lot of fun, although not as comfortable on long drives.

This photo is from their site, I haven't had a chance to get pics myself yet.

It's a 2001, Titanium Silver, black/silverstone sport interior with extended leather, M audio, pass thru trunk. It had 1 owner before me who babied it (I spoke to him prior to buying) and has just over 28k on the odo after the 8 hour drive back.

My only problem with it is I have no idea what the hell I'm going to get after it cause I can't ever see myself liking any car more than this one (as they say, it's one of them good problems).

Coming from someone whose GS I admired for years and whose advice helped a TON when I had mine, that truly is a compliment! Thanks Hameed!

Thumbs up Wow!!

Gorgeous, to put it mildly. And personally I don't buy into the whole "outdated look" idea, a beautiful design is just that and will remain that. This body style puts the current 5 series to shame and I suspect 10 or 20 years from now that will still be the case. Great choice, enjoy! In the end how close did you come to staying within your budget?

I paid $39,995....that left me $5 for my flight, gas for the way home etc. I exceeded my budget just slightly

After looking at an E60 545 I'm much more of a fan of the E39 now too. The styling, feel, and finish just make it look and feel like a real sports car, the new one lacks that IMO.

I bought my CL from Luxury Motors/Bentley DG, good people. Did you get the extended warranty through Easycare? Nice purchase for sure (the M5).
