Convertible caught with top down

The powerful M-version of BMW’s 3-series is scheduled for launch next year only. The 3-series M will be available as coupe, convertible and four door. For the first time power will come from a V8 powerplant. It is a 4.0 litre engine delivering 415 HP, transmission is a seven speed SMG gearbox. A traditional six-speed manual transmission will be offered as an option.

Four photos from this set are showing for the first time an M3 coupe prototype from all angles on a test drive in Munich featuring the large air intakes at the front end, wider fenders and four exhaust pipes. Another year later BMW will launch an M3 convertible - and a four door version.

Two more photos are showing the 3-series coupe in full showroom trim (these two photos were mildly computer generated). The 3-Series coupe will also get power from BMW’s new six cylinder Bi turbo engine delivering 300 HP. Clearly visible on the prototype: the corresponding two exhaust pipes.

Another two photos are of the upcoming new 3-series convertible with the top down, the other photo is from our files and shows the retractable steel roof as close up.

yawnerfic styling i couldnt even tell it was a M from the 3 coupe without looking at the exhaust, couldve made it more distinct, coupe proportions were destroyed on this car

As mentioned..... WTF???? The 3 series seems tooooo big and unproportioned

It seems like they wnat to make it larger but don't want to make it look too good and compete against the 645.....Just my .02..

It's looking more like an SC300/400 with wider fender flares from the side anyway.

its probably a M engine in a test mule 3 coupe body not the actual M body but still the side doors just make me throw up a little inside, it looks like a sedan door on a coupe body

Not a big fan of the new look. The e46 styling is a bit more classy and agressive.

I dont know whats going on over there. The uncovered 3 coupe doesnt look too good. So far very disappointed, but I still have to see official pics. There is still a chance that it will look different.

It really looks like a facelifted E46 ant not really like an entirely different car.

same here. Couldn't really tell it was a M3 and is it be or does that car sit very high off the ground?

The styling on that car may be the most boring new car styling I've seen since ......................well, I can't quite remember. A Honda Civic looks more aggressive and exciting. I hope they rework the sheet metal so it is nearly as beautiful as the outgoing M.
