What to buy for a daily driver?

Guys,
Just sold the Expedition to get something a little more fuel/cost efficient. I am looking for a daily driver with cost between $7500-$24000, although my goal is to stay below $14000.
Mileage and year don't concern me. The only problem is that I have to buy from a dealer - new or used.
I want something fun so that rules out the Accord and Camry families.
Don't want something that I can mod - so it either needs to be modded before I buy it or else it won't be modded at all. I already have a car to mod
Want at least 18mpg. Don't want an SUV or a Subaru!
Any ideas? Would kind of like an M3 but don't know how smart that is. So cap it at $14k and you would buy what?

4 doors 2 doors? if you want fun I guess a standard. Heres my list. Used of course.
RSX type s
sentra se-r spec v
BMW 3 series 2001 and back (my mom and her friend both have 3 series for sale right now)
Scion TC- fantastic quality car
I'd say a first gen is300 but the gas milage isnt that great
thats what comes to my mind first if I had around $14000 to spend.
Personally I'd look for a 2000 328i with a five speed. New body style (4 door only) reliable, decent gas milage, and loads of fun.

ha ha I'm in the same boat as you I was thinking of about a 2nd gen ES. Something I'm not too tempted to mod. I was looking at an Accord V6 something low key and incognito. Might even do a CR-V lol. I'm definately going for fwd or awd in case we do get some real snow here in the winter.

Everyone tells me to buy smart and get an Accord - but I know within 2 months I will be bored out of my mind with it and ready to get something else.

ES300
They can be found for cheap. You get Lexus quality and reliability. You'll average at least 20mpg... and you never have to worry about spending more on your daily than on your GS because nobody makes anything for the ES.
