I like that as well as the focus on 2 channel sound rather than 5.1 audio that the other mfgs are going to. Unfortunately, it's going to be paired w/ Bose equipment so it probably still won't sound as good as a Mark Levinson stereo in a Lexus.

Default 2007 G35....What's this for?

Did Infiniti mention anything about this card slot on 2007 G35 during NY autoshow? I belive this G35 is production model and Infiniti is not sold in Japan yet, so it has to be U.S production model right? I wonder if it's supposed be a secret till more info comes out even though they talked about new added speakers on front door. Was G35 open to public at NY auto show, i.e did they allow ppl to check out the interior? I am really curious about this feature cause Lexus still doesnt have anything like this. Anyone has an idea?

Allows you to add songs to the car's internal hard drive.

I've thought of that, but with 512 MB card? That sounds so not enough. Wouldn't ppl rather wanna hook up 2GB mp3 player to their car than download musics to memery card THEN transfer them to the car?

You're assuming that 512MB is the max... That is a Compact Flash card which you can get up to 4GB in capacity.

Most major flash memory makers including Transcend, Sandisk, Lexar and SimpleTech have been making 8GB Compact Flash Type II cards for a while. Seagate even makes an 8GB harddrive in the Compact Flash Type II form factor.

Makes me wonder even more why Lexus decided to put a paltry 8GB HDD in the New LS, which is neither large nor removeable.

The HDD will start at 9GB I think, but it'll be upgradable (afaik). I actually like the idea of being forced to re-rip CD's using the burr brown DACs because it'll mean higher quality than what most people would normally use on an iPod. For folks that are attached to their iPod there are RCA jacks in the center arm rest.

It's all about cost. The 8GB CF is a lot more expensive than the HDD. I agree that 8GB HDD is too little since HDD are so cheap now a day.

this harddrive would have to be very vibration and shock resistant, not the normal harddrive you buy for a desktop

Unless the enclosure is shock resistant, rather than the drive.
