Yep, BMW's new looks are definitely not loved by all but they almost always drive real well.

WOW...38 grand with Military discount. How much is it worth?? Like 2-3 grand??

I think it is safe to say that this car will have a base price of about 40K. Should be expected though considering that the coupe is always more expensive than the sedan.

Lexus is pretty good when it comes to weight, with only BMW's being lighter.
Yea they are OKAY. However wieght is still going UP. Not leveling off or decreasing like what BMW is trying to do. And the IS happens to be one of the heaviest cars in its segment from being one of the lightest. But I must commend them on the GS as that is a surprisingly light car, and the hybrid model weighs just as much as a M45.

it is only IS250 that is really heavier than 325i by a lot. 330i and IS350 are almost the same (75lbs as much as I remember). But that brings another question - why the heck is 325i 200lbs lighter than 330i? They both have 3.0 engine. There is no reason IS250 should be lighter by 200lbs than IS350, because everything else is the same.

I doubt you will see weight going down in LS either, with bigger size and more luxury amenities...

The weight savings is minimal — about 6.6 pounds — but it helps BMW achieve its much-touted 50:50 weight balance more easily. The new material also offers greater freedom in design, being easier to mould and shape than steel – an important factor giving the designer new freedom in the design process. BMW says the fenders are painted with the exact same paint used for the steel unibody and look the same as steel panels. In low-speed collisions, the new panels are also less likely to permanently deform. After the jump we have two images: one illustrating how light the new panels are, and another shows the difference between the sedan and coupe’s fenders (with the latter having a deeper character line)…

I am not paying MORE for plastic. You got to be kidding me. They need to get those workers in Germany off the 35hr week 6 vacation, 50hr salaries.

Ridiculous.

Plastics make it possible.......possible for these engineers to be even more wreckless and lazy with their styling and such. As i mentioned to my friend today as he watched a nice looking E46 drive by, "The last good looking 3 series" He was like Yup, the current one and the new one are ugly.

They can have their 35h work weeks and get paid like it was 50h of work but only if they create something good and worth the money. Otherwise start working 50h and get paid for only 35h till they make something good.

Next thing you'll know they'll be using that shiny, glossy paper as their next "lightweight" material.
