"Don coaxed the 335i to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds--only 0.3 seconds slower than the M3. The 335i covered the quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds @ 104 mph--again, only 0.2 seconds and 1 mph behind the M3."
On a less positive note, this is the first article I've seen that mentions any appreciable turbo lag.

335i taking back the HP crown!
Check out the dyno results done by Automobile Mag on the 335i. 275 RWP/300RWTQ bone stock! Talk about being underrated, those are M3 HP#s. I don't think the 350 will be able to keep up with it...

But the IS350 is still faster than the new 335i so Lexus is still the fastest in its class. According to bmw's performance data the 335i is a few tenths off of the IS350 even when equipped with a manual and rember if this engine debuts in the sedan the 4dr will weigh more and bring the prformance numbers down even more.

i am not so sure about that. I guess we'll just have to wait for more real world data when there are more 335i on the road.

Nice, very very impressive numbers... Especially that torque figure!
Sorry to burst your bubble dude, with that 335i doing 13.6@104 the IS is not going to do any walking away from the 335i I doubt the sedan version is going to be heavy enough to knock off 4mph from the trap.

Dyno /= real life performance as we've all seen lately with the intake drama around here.
Can't wait to see what a race between the cars in real life or actual track numbers from an independent, unbiased source.

Torque on disparate platforms is meaningless. If you think torque is important, you should be driving a diesel.
270 hp isn't much over the IS. It's also ONE test of a TEST vehicle. OEMs are notorious for sending ringers to the automotive press for reviews. I wouldn't put much in this close a result until you see some real people with production cars making the same power or better still, running the appropriate times for the power to weight ratio they should produce.

Drive two cars that have the same power to weight ratio but one has a better torque curve, and the one with the better curve is going to come out on top. Torque is not meaningless. Why do you think cars like the Acura RL get so much flack about it's performance, becuae it lacks the torque that it's competitors have.

No it was for the 335. I'm sure it's a bit conservative.
