Didn't you know? Your not supposed to work on your car anymore.

Plus, how many new Lexus buyers do you think are going to get their hands dirty?

The first time I open up my hood in my GX (the ol GS doesn't have one) I was amazed how clean it was and how it looks
Not only that, how often does a lexus break down for you to constantly open up the hood anyway?
Unless you're constantly under the hood
you would leave the cover off until you're done working on it.
And if you're taking the car to the dealer for service, then there's no need to worry also
In both of my cars, I don't think I ever opened it more than 10 times combined

I like the clean looks it gives the engine bay, and a plus is that in CA where cops can pull you over if they think you have modified parts that are illegal, it might just cover up the ones that aren't legal

I am on the "like the cover" side. It is easy enough to remove whereas it is a PITA to make one if the car does not come with one. If you truly do not like it, just leave it off. ![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
BTW - Ia m not sure about the new GS and IS (since I have not looked under the hood) but the new LS has 3 covers.

The typical NEW Lexus customer does not service their own car. It's probably helpful for keeping people's hands out of the fans & belts when the engine is running. I suspect the covers may also control airflow and aid engine cooling.
I doubt that Lexus spent the extra time and money to make the engine covers just because they look cool!
I don't mind the covers. I have several other cars to work on if I feel the need!
