** Sorry folks, I don't buy the "new GS*** is coming so sales are slow and Lexus is holding back production" argument.
Certain members on ClubLexus, which will remain nameless, also doubted the whole "IS production is ramping up and sales will go above 4K per month" argument, and they were proven wrong.

We will see in the coming months if doubters of the GS argument are also proved wrong.

On another note, Acura had TL sales reach almost 8K! That's crazy! I'm really interested in seeing May sales figures, to see how the ES350 will impact TL sales.

Also on another note: the Accord Hybrid took a complete nosedive sales-wise, and the Civic Hybrid also dropped in sales. The Corolla had a clear lead over the new Civic sales-wise, which is surprising.

Prius sales have dropped, but that has already been confirmed to be because of production being allocated to the ramp up of the Camry Hybrid. The Prius continues to fly off the dealer lots, and demand does not seem to be decreasing.

The Yaris and FJ both had some solid sales.

Man, I sure like automakers and their numbers. I wonder if anyone in the auto business can do stats without spinning them. I read the disclaimer and can't believe it makes that much difference. If I take total vehicles in April this year of 28563 and subtract last year's number of 25382 I get an increase of 3181 vehicles. If I divide that by last years sales of 25382, I get an increase of 12.53%. That's still very respectable but I wonder how they get a sales increase of 16.9%? If I correct for the number of sales days this year vs last, the increase bumps up from 940 cars a day to 1098.57 which is a 14% increase, getting up there but still not 17%. I am sure they have some set of mathematics to have it work out, just like they have 26 selling days in April this year vs 27 last year. All those days when car dealers were closed down that I missed.

A few more notes ...

The Highlander Hybrid alone outsold Ford and Honda's entire hybrid lineups.

BMW this month outsold Lexus by a small margin.

The Yaris easily outsold both the Fit and Aveo.

April sales of BMW brand vehicles rose 20 percent for a total of 25,250
compared to 21,072 reported in the same month a year ago.

Lexus sold 24,679 vehicles down 1.7%

ouch

I think the GS460, GS350 and LS460 will again restore proper order in the universe.

It's amazing how the 3series is selling so well, especially considering it's not all that great looking .

It goes to show great magazine reviews really do work, and Lexus needs to cater to magazine tastes.

I agree. The M is doing great in this segment considering the former m45 was a flop

ES350 should bring things back to order. And of course, the coming GS350, GS460, and new LS will make sure Lexus sales don't slip.

It's no surprise 3 Series continues to sell so well, with the HUGE amount of model variants and options available.

Lexus has taken notice; a new IS Coupe is coming, as well as hardtop convertible. Not to mention, a rumoured V8-powered IS.

BMW's lineup is mostly fresh and went through a big revitalization that started with the controversial 7 Series and culminated with the release of the new 3 Series.

Lexus' lineup is right in the middle of a big revitalization. Still to come is a new SC, new large SUVs, a new RX, and a rumoured new crossover model, on top of the already-mentioned new LS, and new GS and IS model variants.

Last but not least is the halo Lexus supercar.

and largest manufacturer rabates :-).

Lexus lowered GS production so they dont have to give incentives btw. They have the luxury of producing as many as customers want and not a bit more due to flexible plants. Will customers want more GS's when GS350 arrives? Who really knows. ES is the one to push up sales for next month and then LS later in the year.

Yaris is doing good eh? And xA too... :-).

GS450h sales are off to a good start. It was only on-sale for a week, and 141 units were sold. Considering the initial allocation is only 2000 units annually for the US, I'm guessing Toyota will have to raise production. Speed channel's track test and road test of the GS450h was great publicity, as the car was almost unanimously praised by everyone on the Speed program.

Yaris sales in the US is icing on the cake for Toyota. The Vitz (Yaris) in Japan continues to be one of the top selling cars, and Yaris is a big seller in Europe, where Toyota posted record sales in March. Even in Canada Yaris is very popular, just like the Echo was.

Big things should be coming for Scion, with a new xB, a possible tC replacement soon, and a supposedly new AWD model.

Though thats generally a great show(I really enjoy watching it myself) with some nice vehicle shots and even them running the car on a track, they rarely address negatives for ANY car they test. Its like no car has a flaw on that show. Its great marketing though.
