Actually, I like the Fusion, IMO, a huge step over the Contour. I like the interior, as I like the Camry interior. I think the Fusion styling is more bland that a Camry. Slapping IS 300 Altezzas on the rear and a G35 front, with last generation Jetta sides, is not style.
The Camry with Tl lights, a giant grill, and a 7 trunk, is not style either.
Not sure why people want STYLE in this class. I want reliability, space, a few features and I just want to know the car is going to start every morning.
I think some people just want every car to be like a BMW or Lexus.
That is not these cars roles and we should not expect them to be like that

I've been seeing a lot of Fusions around here. I think maybe they're assembled nearby, dunno. Anyway, I don't like the exterior that much but I don't really like the Camry either. I'd have to drive both to pick a winner but just based on reliabilty ratings I'd lean towards the Camry for sure.

I don't really care for the light blue plastic accents ala Solara.
OK - just looked at these 3 pics:

The first two pics are from Toyota's site and are of course as flattering as possible, but the third pic from Edmunds shows more clearly the acres of flat gray plastic on the center console and stack with the shifter looking very lonely in it.
I do think the 4 spoke steering wheel with lots of controls looks MUCH better than the 3 spoke one.
The overall proportions of the dash are decent though. My problem is more with materials and colors.

That's one of my biggest beefs with it. I just the pale blue plastic looks beyond cheap. Worse even than most fake wood.

that said, fusion doesnt look as hot as new camry
its trying that mature and luxury look but the materials just arent cutting it
im so dissapointed in camry's interior though
for once, ford beats toyota in interior quality!
that baby blue plastic in the new camry is the result of a seriously stupid decision
i know they want the car to look younger to attract younger crowds but the fact is, thats what corolla is for
they shouldve kept the camry to a mature interior design
doesnt toyota have any proper focus groups?

Heheh we can all agree the New Camry's styling is a love hate thing. I personally like the SE version myself. It's a big step forward from the Gen 4 days of the TRD Molly Design kit packages.
Our club back in the day was one of the first to push out the Camry and Solara TRD Packages...it's nice to know there's some sort of sport influence in these cars today. Long live the good 'ol days of Camryman's Passing Lane and TeamSC3.
