Cars like this make a good case for BMW to bring the 1-series over to the U.S. market from Germany, especially an M1. The new 1-series, in fact, for several reasons, is one of the very few Chris Bangle designs I think is reasonably well-done and does not make me want to toss up my lunch.

well, not sure those people would be able to afford the 1 series anyway
and on the other hand, would bmw really need to worry about crowd like this?

Maybe...maybe not. The 1-series is less expensive to produce than other BMW products ( Mini Cooper excepted, of course ) and doesn't have as many expensive electronic toys on it like I-Drive.

Under 20K, I agree with you, not likely...............but a new Civic Si starts over 20K, and with some options, freight, and tax is also going to run in the low 20's ( dealers generally don't bargain on this car ). A regular ( non-M ) 1-series would probably run roughly the same price range...low-to-mid-20's.
