If I had $40k in my pocket, I would't even think of Lexus. I'll get myself a used NSX or used E46 M3. OOOrrr an E55. Oh yea

That, E39 M5, or 06 GS300 (i'm sure you can find one with 10-15,000 miles for 40 or under).

for used, i would probably look at the m5

For $40K... the newest NSX that money would buy me... preferably a hardtop.

I have two friends that have NSXs and drive them every day... reliable as a stone, easy to live with... great cars! One is a '94 black/black hardtop and has 140K miles on it... I told him if he sells it, I'd buy it.

I'd actually like to build a SuperFormance Cobra Coupe, but I couldn't do it for 40-large.

1998 Hardtop Supra would be #1 choice. NSX would be #2 choice. G35 is nice but it is nowhere near first two choices.

For a small economical car....the 2005 Lotus Elise. Seen them priced at around 42K. Not too bad for a sporty coupe
