Are you going the ride the RL/GS hard? According to your thread description, you're not looking into performance but rather "a feature packed, reliable AWD." Both will provide that. VDIM shouldn't be that big of a factor for performance, but rather a big factor in safety.
Either one will suffice.
Now for my opinion: I'm not biased towards the GS, but I prefer anything over Honda...

sorry i might have come late. if it's a comparison between the current 06 gs300 awd and the rl, i would actually tell you to get the rl. but now we are talking about the new gs350 awd, i would pick that car for sure, it's just a better car over all imho.
interior wise, the rl is pretty nice and quite a step up from the tl and such, but call me biased or whatever, i still think lexus has better interior, both built and quality. the new gs interior is pretty darn nice imho except the funny "hidden" panel on the driver side. other than that, i would hit that car!

for an RL.
Honest to goodness, I wanted to like the RL when it came out, but
completely lost interest and never test drove it after seeing the inside
and the outside of it. I feel bad for Acura because I do have a soft spot
for Honda products having owned 2 trouble free Accords. Seems like
Acura is content with going for the low end value approach and after
the promise of the Legend that is a great disappointment.

that aside though, i think the rl is still a pretty nice car. putting it side by side with the gs i think it's a reasonable comparison. it as a flagship is a disaster of course imho. too bad the sales is so bad that a lot of places are selling it at great discounts

The new IS is a head-turner, and the brand new ES350 is perhaps the best-looking L-finesse design we've seen yet. The new GS? The proportions look wrong, somehow. There's just something not right about the overall look.

I know you've made you decision already but you cant really go wrong with either one if there's really going to be GS350. But you gotta do something about that ugly looking wheels on the GS if they would use the same wheel on GS350. But if I were you, I would just go with RL just because you can get RL right now and probably cheaper.

funny enough, if the rl is actually in place of the tl, and acura with another better flagship, i think it's going to get more attention

A BIG +1.
The RL has VERY nice presence on the road. And what's amazing is that I have never seen one "done up". With some 19's or 20's on a Pearl w/ black interior....
