The X5 is a nice vehicle, but I have hang-ups about paying that kind of money for a German vehicle made in the USA. If I needed/wanted an SUV, I'd buy a Land Cruiser...as far as trucks and tall wagons go, nothing comes close to it in my book.

But I don't think that there's anything awkward about this ad blitz. All the well-informed consumers have made their purchases or avoided this truck like the plague. Infiniti, with this advertising, is just introducing their line-up to those who haven't done their homework in order to grab sales before a model change or a drop.
This is standard marketing procedure. Infiniti is not particularly creative with their marketing; the current FX is a late-growth or nearly-mature product - as such, an ad blitz (attempting to differentiate the FX somehow) and incentives are just what the doctor ordered.
