Germans have always offered more choice to their credit and a reason why they do cost more. I think its great they offer so many choices.

why does it matter if cars has 300000 options, and competing cars has 10 options, as long as 1 option is exactly what you need? :-).

I would never buy an sports car without an manual, so I dont really care if there are 5 different powertrain combinations if there isnt an manual in there.

On the other side, I would never buy non-automatic large/luxury car, so I really dont care if they offer 5 different powertrains if there isnt an automatic in there.

Since 450h is an Hybrid, you can not have an hybrid without CVT, end of story.

dunno, seeing all the pricing, i wouldn't be surprised if the gs460 is going to be more expensive than the gs430

I agree. I think the GS460 may go north of $60K fully loaded.

Since both of these cars aren't anything close to being on my list of potential future transportation, I don't think I'll continue. Just so we're clear, I think the GS is, objectively, probably the better vehicle between the two, it's just not for me.

I understand your position and I think mine is clear as well.

Because a) not everyone is the same 'you', and b) it's not only about 'need'

Well that's YOUR choice. A friend has a BMW Z3 though, that's auto. Not my choice, but she's happy.

I agree with your preference, but I also have a couple of friends with 6 speed 540i's that LOVE them and they sure are sweet to drive (except in traffic!).

How about WAY NORTH. The GS450h while stated as starting at 54,900 is pure fiction because you won't find one that isn't pretty loaded. Even without the active rear stabilizer it's $63K.

with that msrp, i think they are going to set the gs460 at around 70k loaded? damn that's pretty pricey huh? that means it's about 60k invoice, about 10k jump from the 2gs430 if i remember right

and with this indication, the ls460 isn't gonna be pretty

Depending on how they package the GS460, I don't see why the GS460 needs to be more expensive than a similarly equipped GS450h. There should be a hybrid premium for the GS450h afterall . . .

I hope not, at least for the base LS460 . . .

But remember the "hybrid premium" of the GS450h is over the GS350, not the GS460.

Yes I know, but the GS450h should have a mpg & emission advantage(for those who care for these things) over the GS460, that should somewhat cancel out the expected performance advantage of the GS460 over the GS450h, that's what I meant

Remember, the premium of the GS450h over the GS350 is not just for mpg/emission, it's also for performance . . .

Followed the same exercise here and I got $60,149 for a fully loaded
GS450h in the Boston area. The active stabilizer package seems to add
$5900

The active stabilizer/runflat tire option is a $3400 package and the pre-collision system option is $2850 which is how it gets up to almost $66K fully loaded (Nav and ML too). That's directly from my window sticker. Bitkahuna's $63K figure apparently did not include the PCS option. A $60K 450h would not include either the stabilizer or PCS packages. Hope this helps clarify the "fully loaded" 450h cost.

Ah now I understand... I was thinking that PCS was already included.

So it should be possible to get a GS450h between 60k - 66k realistically.
