Default 2007 Saturn Aura pricing announced

Saturn Competitively Prices 2007 AURA
June 9, 2006

Earlier today Saturn reportedly revealed pricing for its all-new AURA midsize sedan to retailers around the country. The AURA is set to officially go on sale later next month. SaturnFans.com has learned that the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 2007 AURA will start at $20,595 for the XE model equipped with GM's 3.5L V6 with variable valve timing (VVT). The uplevel XR model powered by a 3.6L DOHC V6 with VVT and GM's new 6-speed automatic transmission will start at $24,595. According to the company, "the AURA's MSRP, long list of standard equipment, refined interior and bold exterior design reinforce Saturn's commitment to offering solid value while executing products like never before."

Comparison shoppers may note that pricing for the 2006 Honda Accord - one of the AURA primary competitors - starts at a little over $18,000. However, the base Accord only comes with a 4-cylinder coupled to a manual transmission; the 4-cylinder automatic Accord starts at over $19,000. Meanwhile, the AURA XE comes with a standard V6 and is equipped with more standard equipment that the Accord. Honda's better equipped automatic Accord V6 starts at over $25,000.

Standard V-6 for 21k. Very impressive pricing. The closer this car is to 20k and not 30k, the better it will fare!!

I like this car, good luck

I gotta say, that's not bad at all. First the Sky, now this Aura. Dare I say an American car company is... impressing me..?

There's a lot of Pontiac G6 in this car, and the pricing is similar. The concept looked quite a bit better, even though the metal is the same.

This is the first Saturn sedan that I wouldn't be embarrased to drive. Thats a definite thumbs
up for a company that's been trying to impress since the very beginning.

I hope Saturn sells a boat load of these and keep improving.

25k for the XR isn't too bad - that 3.6 liter is worth a little extra.

But ... this picture looks like an official release from GM ... now look at how the radio and climate modules fit into the console ... does anyone else see a glaring fitment problem? They're not flush w/ the console on the right side. I hope that's just an illusion/shadow but it doesn't look like it.

Great looking car. I love the color combo in the interior. I hope that the interior materials are not all hard plastic! GM is doing a great job with reinventing Saturn!

Saturn Aura Becomes Lowest Priced Hybrid
General Motors today announced the 2007 Aura Green Line hybrid will start at $22,695 (including destination charge), making it the lowest-priced hybrid on the market for 2007. What's more, the IRS has certified that Aura Green Line buyers will qualify for a tax credit of $1,300.

“The Aura Green Line is a great value among the hybrids in the mid-size car segment,” said Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak. “With a starting sticker price over $2,000 less than any mid-sized hybrid sedan and a $1,300 tax credit, it makes true hybrid fuel savings available to more people than ever before.”

The Aura Green Line’s EPA fuel economy rating of 28 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway represents up to a 30 percent improvement in EPA combined fuel economy compared to the non-hybrid Aura XE model (depending on driving conditions).

The Aura is assembled at the General Motors Fairfax Plant in Kansas City , Kan. , and Green Line hybrid models are beginning to arrive at Saturn retail facilities.

The hybrid system in the Aura combines sophisticated controls with a precise electric motor/generator mated to a 2.4-liter engine. The system delivers fuel economy gains by providing electric power assist during acceleration, through early fuel cut-off during deceleration with torque smoothing and by shutting the engine off at idle. The system also captures electrical energy through regenerative braking. The vehicle’s hybrid powertrain produces 164 horsepower (122 kW) at 6400 rpm and 159 lb.-ft. (215 Nm) of peak torque at 5000 rpm.
