Free Acura MDX Lease with $2M House Purchase
Nice diss on Acura's prestige in the last paragraph -
"The buyers of the custom-built home at 7102 Pomander Lane in the Village of Martin’s Additions will receive an added bonus for their roughly $2 million purchase — a fully loaded Acura SUV, with a three-year lease paid in full."
"For Chevy Chase builder Noel Fisher, owner of Fisher Fine Homes, who bought the lot and built the house, the promotion is a sign of the times."
"Hence the Acura MDX, complete with leather interior, navigation system, unlimited free car washes and loaner cars. Aside from enticing people to at least look at the house, Fisher said he hopes people will see three years without a car payment as a way to offset rising interest rates."
"As for offering a new car to a prospective buyer, it’s a nice gimmick, but not likely to be a major selling point, Fairweather said. ‘Rarely can you entice somebody with an Acura who’s going to pay $2 million-plus on a house,’ she said. ‘If you want to give them a Rolls, you want to give them a Mercedes, OK. What it does do for the builder is it gets him noticed.’"

well acura is more like mercury than lexus/mercedes/BMW/Caddy.
Acura is no way the same catagory as a BMW in price and prestiege and it is true, someone that can drop 2,000,000 on a home would probably drive a Mercedes S class, BMW 7 series or Lexus Ls rather than a MDX..

no disrespect here, but i think this is pretty retarded.... i mean, if someone can actually afford a 2 million house, you can easily guage their income and their mortgage, etc... people making those kind of money, please get them a mb or bmw or audi or lexus.... acura mdx?! don't get me wrong, it's a decent car, but it's not a car where people living in 2mil house would drive. they would most likely want something with more prestigue
(flame suit on) just my 2 cents, you might not agree, but go to places with 2+ million homes, you see mdx, but you see a lot other you-know-the-brand cars

My previous boss doesn't live in a 2 million+ house but he has a $1.5 million mansion in Palo Verdes. He also has a 1991 Acura Legend with over 160K miles in it as his daily car.
We can also see a lot of crappy (though expensive) apartments in LA with "prestigious" brand cars like BMW and MB parking on curbside outside the apartments.
So, I guess we can really project one's preference on cars by just knowing how expensive a house that person lives in.

He should have just offered a C-Class or 3 series lease instead then ?
An Acura MDX is just as expensive as most C class Mercedes or BMW 3 series, but I guess giving out a Mercedes or a BMW sounds better

this dude probably saw what one guy did in england
hes giving away his ferrari F355 to whoever buys his condo
seriously, MDX doesnt belong to a 2 million dollar house
my father's house was about 3 million, lived in Diamond Bar The Country, just about all of the cars in that neighbourhood are Mercedes and up
and my dad had a S500
with the odd exceptions of a few GM SUVs here and there and Ford Escorts and stuff owned by maids or butlers probably

i was talking to my friend. back in early 90s when housing was bad, you buy a house and there was a s-class in the garage with the keys already. beat that.
imho, lease for a e350 for 3 yrs is what, 36k? for a 2 mil house, i think that's a reasonable offer. even if it's c class or 3 series i would still call that a bad idea, sorry

I know a Real Estate invester who owns property all over the west coast including Hawaii and San Francisco both residential and commercial and drove a 92 Acura Legend Sedan right up until he gave it to his son recently. I know he wouldn't buy a Mercedes or BMW as those cars are just not his style.
That said, to give away an MDX lease or any car lease for that matter to get people to buy a $2.0M home is rediculout. I actually can see that gimmick working on a less expensive home maybe in the $500 dollar range, but millionaire's don't get caught up in gimmicks like this.

The people I know, who have REAL money drive things like Acura TLs and Town and Country minivans. I'm betting that the people who can afford a 2M house WILL look twice at it because it comes with a sensible car.
