Next Audi A4 to go on sale in 2008 (Copyright: Wheels24, Wayne Batty)

Wheels24 managed to compile this sketch of the new Audi A4 using insider info and studying recent Audi design trends.

Audi will probably showcase the new generation A4 at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show and it will reach South Africa soon after that.

Its design will be sharper and sportier than the current model, which Audi gave a major makeover in 2005.

Typical of Audi design, the new A4's styling will be more of an evolution of the current model, instead of radical design departure.

However, there is no doubt that it will have better road presence and it will be more aggresive to position the A4 as a supreme rival to the BMW 3 Series and the next Mercedes C-Class.

Therefore the 2008 A4 will take styling cues from new Audis such as the new TT and Q7, as well as the sizzling Roadjet and Shooting Brake concept cars.

Audi will also boost the build quality and fit and finish even further.

The A4 will be moved more upmarket, to position it further away from the A3 Sportback.

Therefore in all likelihood Audi will ditch the 1.8-litre turbo engine and the range will kick off with the turbo-charged 2-litre FSI units.

I like it. The design is very unique and very distinguished. The face is a bit too rounded though; it would have been more aggressive if it had sharper edges. I like the LED turn signals...

Audi continues to impress me with every new vehicle they introduce. I may have to reconsider my "no European vehicles" position.

Props to Audi for trying to incorporate the big-gulp grill a little better. But this isn't any more fluid a design than the current car - which looks awkward IMO.

They could save themselves the trouble and just revert back to the previous design (before big-gulp).

Loving it. Looks real aggressive so far. Those new LED lights used on the S6 and 997TT are the truth. A very nice touch.

That's a very bad photochop! Audi went nuts going from the last design to the current design... I think if they went with anything that resembles that gadawful chop, then they would be taking a leap off the deep end!

The front makes me think how agressive this car looks at the same time making me want to throw up. Weird.
