Is a real live person driving that car in that crash test video?

If it was, that person has WAY too much faith, or WAY too much stupidity… Either way, that was friggin’ crazy.

i read somewhere the lead guy in charge of the smart car was confident enough in its safety he himself drove 50 mph into a wall and he got out and walked afterwards

Mercedes dealers are the ones that sell the Smart in Mexico, but Smart is seen as a luxury brand down here.

I remember the A series Mercedes down here (almost bought one as a second car), and wondered why those were also never sold in the U.S., but then realized that like Smart it would tarnish the Mercedes status in the U.S. as a luxury car.

I think they made the right choice going with Penske.

How are they pricing the forTwo? What will be included as standard equipment? If it's anything over $14,000 out the door, people will have second thoughts about purchasing one given the availability of great small cars from Honda (Fit), Toyota (Yaris), Nissan (Versa), Hyundai/Kia (Accent/Rio) and VW (Rabbit) all for around the same price with greater utility and only slightly less economy. Not to mention more conventional (and arguably more attractive) design.

In Mexico, they are going for slightly above $15K USD, last time I checked, but cars are WAY more expensive down here.

I would love to stick a Brabus turbo package in one of these things and run it at my track.
