I've been looking at pictures and some nsx for sale so far, but haven't read on the technical or motor aspect. The space looks cramp.

First question: Am I crazy to think of this? ............. Ok, actually, can it fit first of all?
2nd: Is the nsx engine better than the gte?
3rd: Has it been done? I did remember reading that it was done once in a domestic and another one in a non-lexus/toyota car?

I initially wanted to do the gte swap for my 300 when the mileage gets pretty high maybe 200k+, but been contemplating on an NSX.

Any NSX-nut owner out there?

There's not a lot of space... consideringr the 2JZ is an inline six, it has a LONG body. If you throw in the tranny, it's REALLY long. By the NSX having a V6, it compacts the space and allows for such an engine to be shoehorned in. And when I say Shoehorned... I mean SHOEHORNED.

Im 99.9999 percent sure it wont fit. the 2JZ is a really really long motor and tall too. Wheres a NSX motor is shorter lenght wise. Also how would you hook it up to the drive train? The 2jz-gte is meant to be hooked into a front engine rwd transmission... How are you going to turn the motor sideways? What transmission would you use?

I say a normal individual couldnt do it. Nor would most proffesional speed shops be able to do so. ITd take some CRAZY custom work, and probably body modification to make it work Im sure itd be over 6 digit figure.

Or you could just buy an MR2 and dump 1/10th of the money and have one crazy fast mid engine car.

Might as well do a Boxter with a 3.6 turbo motor swap here probably would cost less too.

you could do it......just put the engine in between the driver and the passenger seats, toss the tranny and rearend into the engine bay, cutting thru the firewall, and sit on top of the hood to drive it.

oh, and somoeone go to google image search and hit "2jz" and be surprised at the first result.

There's always a comptech supercharger for NSX. Those are super quick!

Plus, 2JZ-GTE is pretty heavy.

I think the beauty of the NSX is having a relatively light sports car with MR layout. the 2JZ will probably be too heavy and defeats the purpose.

2JZ belongs to Supras and Aristos.

I agree. Also if you need more power just drop an SC or Turbo on it. A buddy of mine has a Factor X twin turbo on his NA1 3.0L engine putting out over 500 HP to the wheels. 500 HP may not sound like much compared to a 2JZ GTE making 1000 HP in a Supra, but 500 HP in an NSX is still good for 10 second 1/4 mile passes with MAJOR traction problems.

not going to work because of the layout of the NSX engine bay. You'd be much better off just keeping with the stock engine and building it for a turbo setup (the heads are very efficient and they engine has incredible potetion). Steph Papadakis ran the NSX engine in his drag car with a twin turbo setup and great sucess.

Awesome informations everyone, thank you. Learned a lot. Of course nothing is simpler or easier than the gte in a gs/sc. I knew it was a crazy thought and not to mention of the rear-engine displacement.

And of course the picture that stage put up, it is cramped in there

NSX stock is enough power for me. Maybe a supercharger...........if and when I get into the nsx arena
