Suzuki June 2006 Sales Up 28 Percent -- A New Record; Grand Vitara and Forenza Family Lead Suzuki to Best June Sales in Company History

BREA, Calif.--July 3, 2006--American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) today announced sales of 9,516 units in June -- representing an increase of 28 percent over June 2005 and marking the best June sales in company history. Year-to-date sales for the first six months of the year, which total 56,959, are up 36 percent over the previous year. Suzuki's monthly and half-year records continue its recent sales momentum which included record sales of 82,101 in 2005 -- the best sales year in American Suzuki's 21-year history.

ASMC's growth was led by the sales of its Grand Vitara, which sold 2,514 units, an impressive 606 percent increase over last year's numbers. The top-selling Forenza family of vehicles also contributed to Suzuki's record month, with 4,772 units sold in June -- an 11 percent increase over 2005.

"Suzuki's record-setting sales during the first half of the year, following the outstanding first quarter result, demonstrates Suzuki's positive sales momentum and puts us on-track to sustain our growth throughout 2006," said Koichi Suzuki, president of American Suzuki's Automotive Operations. "With the increasing popularity of the 2006 Grand Vitara, the continuing sales strength of the Forenza models and the excitement surrounding the two new vehicles (all-new 2007 XL7 and all-new 2007 SX4) set for introduction later this year, American Suzuki is in position for a successful sales effort this year."

Suzuki's expanding product line in the United States includes the media-acclaimed Grand Vitara, the popular Forenza sedan and Forenza Wagon, the five-door Reno, the Aerio and Aerio SX, the Verona and the Suzuki XL-7, one of the most affordable seven-passenger SUVs sold in the United States.

In addition to the strong vehicle lineup, Suzuki automobiles feature America's #1 Warranty with its industry-leading 100,000-mile/7-year, zero deductible, fully transferable limited powertrain warranty.

Nissan sales are getting really bad. They seriously are waiting too long in releasing new product.

GM Delivers 413,473 Vehicles in June, Highest Monthly Sales Of 2006:

Sales up 15.2 Percent Compared To May
Launch Vehicles Continue Momentum
Highest Market Share of 2006 Anticipated

DETROIT - General Motors' dealers in the United States sold 413,473 new cars and trucks in June, the company's best sales performance year-to-date, up 15.2 percent, or about 68,000 units, compared with May.

"I am proud of our June sales results, especially since they reflect our highest sales month so far this year," said Mark LaNeve, General Motors North America vice president, Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. "Our launch vehicles had their best sales results so far this year, as evidenced by the sales gains of our all-new full-size utilities. We also had strong sales of the Chevrolet Impala (30,716 vehicles), HHR (9,503), Buick Lucerne (10,690), Pontiac G6 (17,074) and Torrent (4,789)."

GM posted strong passenger car sales with Pontiac leading the way, up 28.7 percent over May and up 12.1 percent over June 2005 on the strength of G6 and G6 convertible hardtop sales. G6 set an all-time sales record and is up 39.9 percent for the first six months of the year. Solstice continues to be one of the hottest cars in the country, and the Torrent crossover also achieved an all-time sales record, up 35.8 percent over May. Other GM divisions posted solid results with Saturn sales up 49.1 percent over May levels. Chevrolet small cars posted robust sales with Cobalt up 21.9 percent, and Aveo up 23.5 percent, compared with May. Also, Impala sales were up 24.6 percent over May.

On the truck side of the market, GM sold 33,148 2007 full-size utilities (including Luxury) in June. Total sales of all GM launch vehicles were up 21.8 percent compared with May and accounted for 25.5 percent of GM's total deliveries for the month. The success of GM's launch vehicles is one of the key components of GM's North America turnaround plan.

"Our customers have told us that success in the marketplace depends on a combination of great new products, strong brands and segment-leading fuel economy, and that is exactly the turnaround strategy we are executing," LaNeve said.

Chevrolet HHR, Equinox, Saturn Vue and Pontiac Torrent pushed total small utility sales up 25.3 percent compared with a year ago. HHR had its best retail sales month since launch setting an all-time sales record for June and CYTD.

GM sports cars also posted solid June sales results, with a 60.1 percent improvement compared with year-ago levels. Corvette sales were up 21.6 percent and Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky continue their brisk sales, with Solstice remaining on dealers' lots an average of 13 days and Sky remaining on lots 10 days.

GM's luxury utilities posted strong sales in June, with the all-new 2007 Cadillac Escalade selling 2,604 units; 2007 Escalade ESV selling 1,782 units; and Cadillac SRX sales increasing 31.6 percent compared with one year ago with 2,489 units sold.

GM will continue to introduce an array of new vehicles throughout 2006, including the Saturn AURA, all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups, the fuel-efficient Saturn Vue Green Line Hybrid, and GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook crossovers.

June 2005 was the strongest sales month in 19 years with 558,092 deliveries. Compared with last year, June 2006 sales were down 25.9 percent with total car sales down 2.3 percent, and truck sales down 36.8 percent.

"By any measure... quality of share, launch performance, mix and revenue ... June was a very solid month for GM. Comparing our total volume with last year's employee discount-driven phenomenon is like comparing a home run to a grand slam. Either way, you are scoring runs," said LaNeve.

Certified Used Vehicles

June sales for all certified GM brands, including GM Certified Used Vehicles, Cadillac Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles, Used Cars from Saturn, Saab Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles and HUMMER Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles, were 43,352 units, equivalent to results last June. Total year-to-date certified GM sales are 263,597 units, up 1.5 percent from the same period last year.

GM Certified Used Vehicles, the industry's top-selling certified pre-owned brand, posted 37,155 sales in June, up 4 percent from June 2005. Year-to-date sales for GM Certified Used Vehicles are 228,678 units, up 4 percent.

GM Certified Used Vehicles, which sells Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC and Oldsmobile models, reached a major milestone in June with the sale of its 2 millionth unit. GM Certified, the first manufacturer-certified brand to cross the 2 million sales threshold, set new category records for certified sales each of the last four years, and Chevrolet has been the industry's top-selling single-line make certified used vehicle since 2004. More than 1 million GM Certified units have been sold since 2004 and GM Certified is on track to set another annual sales record for the category this year.

Cadillac Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles posted 3,618 sales in June, up 6 percent from last June. Used Cars from Saturn sold 1,631 units, down 51 percent. Saab Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles sold 857 units, down 10 percent. In its sixth month of operation, HUMMER Certified Pre-Owned sold 91 units.

"June was another strong month for GM Certified Used Vehicles, the industry's top-selling certified pre-owned brand, with sales up 4 percent over last June and up more than 4 percent year-to-date over the same period last year," LaNeve said. "This month GM Certified Used Vehicles became the industry's first manufacturer-certified brand to reach 2 million sales and is key to our strategy to give customers terrific value on both new and certified used vehicles."

Record Half-Year Results for Porsche Cars North America; Sales of 911 Series Best Ever

ATLANTA--July 3, 2006--Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States and Canada, announced its best six-month results in the U.S. in history. The German automaker recorded U.S. retail sales of 2,871 vehicles in June, up 13 percent compared to the same month last year, and the second-best June ever. Year-to-date sales rose 15 percent to 18,601 compared to 2005's first-half of the year number of 15,126.

"Setting a sales record in the first half is gratifying, but we are looking forward to the second half of the year with some amazing new products, such as the new 911 Turbo that just went on sale and is already creating a lot of showroom excitement," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, PCNA President and CEO. "The same will go for the base version of our Cayman model, which promises to attract new sports car enthusiasts to our mid-engine model series."

Porsche's 911 model line up has helped drive Porsche's sales in the U.S. and has enjoyed new sales records throughout the year. In June, sales of the 911 were up 115 percent to 1,266 compared with the same period last year. Part of the 911's record-setting sales in June can be attributed to the launch of the new 911 Turbo, which recorded sales of 256 despite only being launched on June 24.

Actually, not as bad as expected. Nissan, GM and DCX being the worst loosers of all. Ford did not do that bad, thanks to their car sales.

I find their excuses miserable - so you had firesale last year at this time, so? Will you somehow make up for those sales this year? Nope...

Toyota/Lexus, MB and BMW doing good. Honda hanging out there (they need new Accord and CRV), while Acura shows why no clear direction is bad for any auto company.

Love those Yarii beating on competition :-).

Come on now guys report the whole story. We all know that Nissan had to STOP SELLING it's two best volumn sedans, the altima and sentra because of engine fires. This wasn't just a recall, they actually stop selling the cars.

I wonder how Toyota and Honda would have performed if they stopped selling the camry/corolla or the accord/civic for 2 1/2 weeks this past month.

Sorry but EVERY Nissan model was down except the Murano if you look at the chart. Every single Infiniti vehicle is down and they are almost right back where they started 5 years ago.

Kaizen is continuous improvement, therefore Toyota/Lexus managment tries their best to keep things fresh and exciting somewhere in the lineups while maintaining quality and being a tier 1 brand. They also correctly forecasted hybrid sales and the gamble is paying off. Their managment has a CLEAR vision.

Nissan/Renault's vision is still cut costs and make the stock price go up and brag to the press how profitable they are.

Two VERY different companies though they both sells automobiles.

If you go back month after month, Nissan has been down since I believe October of last year as Infiniti. Toyota has never been better.

Some observations:
Wow the Benz E-class sales are flat which is incredible considering even though freshened, this is one of hte older cars in its class. Kudos to them.

Acura can't give away the RL even with a 40-42k sales price. Sales down almost 40% from its first April. They should just stop making the car.

Lexus ES 350/RX 350 sales are robust. IS is surpassing sales targets, they can't build enough of them. GS sales are down but still look like 3rd in sales in its class. The 450h is surpassing sales targets

Toyota, Camry sales up 9%. Scion is just a tremendous hit, with fuel costs so high, this brand is making tons of sense now (And I thought it was a TERRIBLE idea when it debuted).

Audi Q7, late but over 1,000 sales, Audi has to be pleased.

The Americans press releases are too confusing, they are trying to paint a good picture but I have a feeling its really cheap paint they are using.

Ford cars are doing very well, all except the Taurus. Ford with newly freshned SUVs is getting KILLED, the Explorer and Expedition sales are down BIG. And they JUST invested money in them.

Poor Volvo, their lineup has never been better, sales down 11%

Sure glad you can put a happy face on GS sales. GS300 sales down 34.4% and GS430/450h sales down 31.8% are the kind of numbers that if we saw from a bimmer or merc with a relatively new model we would be wondering why they weren't doing something - fast. I guess the market is treating the new GS with the ho hum that it gave me. Wonder if they will even bother with a next gen?

Hey, I would be a fool to say GS numbers are great. They suck compared to last year We do know we are getting new products 350/460 like Benz and BMW just did with 350/550 545 to 550.

Everyone else is still stuck in 1980s mentality with the same engine for 30 years

Wonder how many GS sales will be left to get by the time those new motors show up?
