What chassis/suspension/steering is used? What motor/trans/mechanical features does it have? Anything impressive?

Or is it really just a 20k dollar car with a 60k dollar interior?

Please stay on topic. This thread is about the Toyota Alphard, not marketing hype of another model. If you don't agree with a post, don't reply in a way that takes the thread to a direction that's far off topic. You can always take it to pm. A few OT posts are removed. Please review the forum rules regarding OT post & think about it before you reply.

Since Toyota can almost sell anything in the U.S., why not Alphard? I think Americans would love it.

I agree...they are much better than the Sienna...they are so luxsury that the top model is even more luxury than the current LS(their interior are based on Rolls Royce)...
They are currently selling in Hong Kong with price between about $50k-$100k USD...
I think they are not imported because Toyota think that not many people will buy them...(Many people say they don't look good from outside)

Well, at my estimate of $80k, it's pretty darn close since the LS460 starts at Cdn$86k

Probably because

a) it looks like an xB, raised and lengthened
b) people get sticker shock at a Cdn$50k Sienna XLE Limited AWD
c) culture differences? In Jpn/HK, they'll pay for this kind of vehicle - luxury with a small engine. Here, they'd rather have a more powerful car over luxury for the same price. The 2.4 litre engine is gonna get stepped down. I can foresee C/D saying it's slow, underpowered, rolls like the Pillsbury dough boy yadda yadda yadda without realising the qualities and, more importantly, the purpose of the van.

C/D already dissed the Honda Vamos with its tiny kei-car engine and 20 sec 0-60 time.

Actually these kind of cars is mainly made for people who love luxury, space, & comfort, so they don't need a powerful engine...
