Default Next gen Acura RL rumors

The next RL might, on top of getting a V8 with RWD, get a coupe version as well.

I guess they figure there is a market for expensive coupes. Like the CLK or the 6 series.
This illustration shows an OK design. But nothing striking, like the BMW 6.

Good luck....

V8 AWD would be even better IMO......especially with the present RL's superb SH AWD system.

Gosh, I hope they don't go with those headlights and grille...it looks like a snarling jungle cat getting ready to spring on its prey.

The current RL is already an ugly car that looks much wore also a V8 rwd I can see honda doing a V6 RWD before a v8. Guess we will have to wit and see.

No. The current RL is AWD, not RWD.......and one of the world's best AWD systems to boot.

I just hope they don't introduce it too quickly, thats one of main determining factors in Japanese cars having such a low perceived equity. The cars are updated so quickly that they are obsolete every few years. Conversely, look at how up to date a 2Gen GS looks, then imagine if they restyled it in 2002!!!!

The front with that grille looks like it's wickedly grinning at you . . .

I've been waiting for the return of the Legend Coupe since 1996. 10+ years latter I hope it comes true

I hope the RL sedan doesn't look like that. That coupe should be a CLK/6-series competitor, and be named something else other than RL.

The RL sedan should look like a flagship car, and not like a car that looks aggressive in that kind of way.

I've got to disagree. Now that they've all been out for awhile, I definitely feel that the RL is the best-looking of the new generation of Japanese midsize luxury sedans. The worst anyone seems to be able to say about it is "bland", but I feel it maintains a nice balance of aggressiveness and style.

That coupe concept looks all right to me, but only if it truly is a high-performance coupe.

Have you driven an RL? It drives even better than it looks....and its build quality is amazing.

Cool Eh

This seems way too logical for Acura. However, I guess they would have to do a V8 & RWD sooner or later.

Now that I think about it, by the time the next generation comes around (2010-ish) the new Acura facility should be open & maybe the distancing from Honda will permit them to actually do this.
