If this is from 2001, how come we never got it stateside?

It's got all the design elements of the new camry and avalon. That's a sexy beast!

As he said, the Corolla will have a 2-dr version.

I'm not sure about the 2.0 litre, 150hp cause I heard 1.8 litre but obviously, not the old 1ZZ engine.

The 200hp version, I can attest that as I've heard it from an insider. It will have a 6-spd manual and possible 17" alloys (since TRD offers opt. 18s) but it's FWD like the Civic Si Coupe.

The CVT will be the optional transmission on the regular Corolla models with 5-spd manual as standard. Expect more safety features like side/side curtain airbags, TRAC/VSC, BA and 4-wheel disc brakes (I realise some are already options stateside). The new engines will also have dual VVT-i technology.

As for the Corolla hatchback, ya well, I guess Toyota decided the Matrix will suit us better than the hatchback (Corolla RunX).

Also, the new Matrix will be a "true" hatchback, not the wagon-ish style of the current model.

This pic was posted in the older '08 Corolla thread. Anyone else think this looks like a 4 door scion TC?

Default Some clearer shots of possible next gen Corolla(will not be called Corolla though)

If the car looks at all like this(4 door scion tc) then the civic will remain the #1 compact car.

#1 in compact car in what category? Not sales, because the Corolla is #1 in that, and styling is subjective, I think the Civic and this are both unappealing.

Interior looks a lot like the Camry XLE interior. Very nice.

Looks like they're banking on the "Lexus-inspired interior" over sporty looks. In other words, cover the "elegant" part and let the civic to the "sporty" bit.
